Street Fighter 6: a generational divide between PS4 and PS5/Series X - with Series S in the middle

Eurogamer: "If there's unfinished business with Street Fighter 6 right now, it relates to the less powerful machines: PS4 and PS4 Pro owners will certainly feel the drop to 30fps in its World Tour mode battling, while the cuts to the Series S build - particularly in terms of texture quality that looks worse than base PS4 - feel extreme and I'd hope to see Capcom improve this build. That aside though, the arcade mode action - the traditional 1v1 gameplay - is simply superb and a locked 60fps line regardless of your platform. And honestly for that alone it puts the Street Fighter series in a very good place."

Amazing game except on the s. With time the diference is getting huge. It's much much closer to last gen, then to this gen

Even when it comes from Digital Foundry (I'll leave it at that..), some people just won't accept that the series S is a problem.

I've been playing SF6 on series S with no issues. And considering the game is also on the Ps4, not sure why we're complaining about the S. Especially since the S holds a steady 60fps throughout.

^ @Whiz, Digital Foundry literally said the series S texture quality is WORSE than the original PS4. That's not good enough for a console they marketed as 'next gen'.

^ Game looks great to me. But I'm also not sitting 12 inches from my TV like the 2x zoomed in pictures they used as evidence of reduced texture quality. And Digital foundry stated that while the texture quality is worse, everything else is better. Frame rate, physics, lighting, input latency.

I bought the S and I agree, it's fine for me as my third console (behind ps5 and switch) but it's definitely a problem. As a developer the S is just a pain in the ass I don't need.

RupeeHoarder736d ago (Edited 736d ago )

This is what gets on my nerves about the Starcraft thing. Series S cant run this to fidelity but can run Starfield at the same framerate as the X? cmon, give the X a performance option.

All Microsoft has to do is make the S optional, not mandatory.

ChasterMies735d ago

Making the S optional would kill the S. Microsoft wants to have its cake and eat it too. Most powerful console and cheapest console at the start of a generation. Like the days of the Wii360. Instead of dropping the S, Microsoft is raising its price and painting it black.

franwex735d ago (Edited 735d ago )

Meh. Not really. Most games can run on it. If most games can run on Nintendo systems they can also run in the S.

In fact Nintendo has done this on their DS systems.
