Diablo 4 tested: a great experience on all current-gen consoles

Eurogamer: "Some eleven years after Diablo 3, Blizzard is back with another barnstorming hack and slash adventure. Diablo 4 is a return to the dark, realistic stylings of the first two series entries, with modern rendering tech and a focus on current-gen consoles and PC. At a glance, it's definitely a pleasing effort, especially when you consider the colossal visual leap from the prior games - but can it sustain the 60fps delivered by its predecessor? Do the new visuals take special advantage of the latest console hardware? And what about last-gen consoles?"

It looks and runs fantastic, however I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of Haptics on the Dualsense. That really took me off guard, I hadn't looked into it beforehand.

It's one of those things, you get so comfortable and used to Dualsense implementation in most games, take it for granted, that you really don't notice it until something like this, when the controller just feels dead in your hands.

I almost wonder if this was purposely done by Activision Blizzard, on account of Microsoft, as to not give PS5 an edge in that regard. It really feels like a huge missed opportunity!

LordoftheCritics116d ago

Lack of DualSense is probably intentional.

Currently the PS5 version of the game is facing a lot of rubber banding for a large amount of users.
No response from the devs

This is what will continue to happen if MS gets to buy Activision.

vikingland1116d ago

Does the adaptive feedback in the Series X controller get utilized? If so then I would agree , if not then I disagree.

Sgt_Slaughter115d ago

So a problem that occurred before MS ever owns Activision Blizzard would happen afterwards?

You do realize how little sense that makes right? How does MS have a single thing to do with this issue?

darkrider116d ago

It's shame. Not very smart with their biggest seller on consoles and by miles

Dualsense implementation in most games?

Which games? other than Astro and Ratchet I’ve been massively dissatisfied in almost every other game’s implementation, especially because those 2 showed how great it can be (just like how it happened with most Switch games)

Even more so with PSVR2 games. I was really hoping for some great implementation there

closed_account116d ago (Edited 116d ago )

But still games had some sort of haptics. Have you even tried Diablo IV yet? It's dead still, I haven't seen a game like it yet. Not even a standard rumble for most of it.

I'd be happy to even have PS4 level rumbles. It feels like that time when we lost PS3 rumble for a while in games.

--Onilink--116d ago

Im playing it on PC, so cant say about the PS5 implementation.

It does sound weird that there is no rumble at all.

That said, the point about good dualsense implementation in specific still applies for me, given just how good a few games have shown it can be, its definitely disappointing (though not entirely unexpected) how poorly supported it is

Doomeduk116d ago

Assetto Corsa competizione was worth the entry fee alone( ps5 digital) if like me your a bit too old to not look stupid with a steering wheel at 50yrs the Dualsense is a game changer in the way the pad communicates it all I can see the difference between shock and sense

shammgod116d ago

Returnal does it best, but that’s a ps exclusive. Not too many 3 party devs do it great, but they usually have some sort of haptics. RE4 remake had a bit. Diablo 4 has none

Diablo 3 also had almost no haptic feedback, but don't let that distract you from a good Microsoft/Activision Blizzard conspiracy.

just_looken116d ago

shhh let them think ms has spies inside all the devs stoping them from using a controller feature that is becoming the new sixth axis ha ha

just_looken116d ago

HA Ha you talking about lack of a nice feature when like diablo 3 they are not using a entire joystick.

This game runs well because it can run on a ps4 its just diablo 3 reused but in a negative way.

My pc falls asleep running it native 4k i should not have 30-40% gpu usage in a 2023 game

Binarycode115d ago

Every game should be using adaptive triggers and Haptics. Leagues above everything else out there.

Unrelated, but kind of sort of with the whole performance aspect, but did Y'all see how there was an issue with the server and some dude lost his Lvl 100 Hardcore character? Man... I think I'd stop playing if that happened to me.

I've only experienced one issue with freezing and one where our party got disconnected, but we could still chat and one person in the party was stuck permanently on a loading screen.

Chriswynnetbh115d ago

If you aren't prepared to lose a single level 100 hardcore character let alone the hundreds you will most likely lose getting there then you probably shouldn't play hardcore

CrimsonWing69115d ago

Yea, I’ll give it the old college try

anast115d ago

Yes, the game had and still has server issues, but for some reason this game has proven games can be released in with no problems according to shill media.

Retroman116d ago

Seen it last night on YouTube 13 hour game and you don't fight Lilian Satan's daughter until last 15 minutes. that is waaaaaaay to much time. and to much cut scene to watch . No thanks.

just_looken116d ago

Its acurally more like 30-40hrs you do not unlock a horse till 60% main story completion so you walk everywere.

Just imagine walking to franklins house in gta 5 then walk to trevors then michales then do that 4 times per act stage.

I have a horse now if it was not for that i would not be finishing the main story i did not get a walking simulator.

Retroman108d ago

Friend of mine texted me yesterday saying Google blocked him from playing Diablo 4 on his PS5 anyone have a clue what to do??
appreciate any help

Exhausting game.

There is zero drive to do anything in the game.

Slappy McGee7d ago

Especially after you beat it. The seasons are just not fun and neither is grinding to level up since everything levels with you.

Sonic18817d ago

I went from liking this game to hating it. Diablo Immoral 2.0

Gardenia7d ago

That's what battle pass and seasons do to a game. They control how much you can play, how fast you should level and what you can win for free.
