I really enjoy playing classics on my Switch w a proper handgrip controller...

But man, do I hate the slow dripfeed speed of releases. I'm really happy about Harvest Moon, was jealous of the Japan Switch Online having it... but truly, it should have been here years ago.

I'd rather just buy these games outright bc I don't mind paying and supporting legal retro preservation. This rate of speed just isn't good enough though. And I'll never get some of my licensed favorites like Gremlins 2 NES.

Rebel_Scum117d ago

Yeah I agree about having the option to buy them. Would be better still if buying them tied it to your account so you don't have to re-purchase for the next gen switch....which obviously won't happen.

Really hanging out for that Golden Sun release.

Oh man, really glad they confirmed Golden Sun! Such a great game, and I never actually finished either one on GBA. I never played the 3rd on DS. Looking forward to it!

Yea, i of course do ROMs on my phone w a Razer Kishi controller, but it's more out of necessity bc there's no legal way to play many classics these days w/o chasing down cartridges/discs that are unaffordable except for the rich.

When they release legally on Switch Online, or elsewhere in compilations, I like to pay to feel I'm giving back for the years of "borrowing" I did. I like the bigger size of my Switch screen vs my phone, and I appreciate that they put in rewind feature & multiplayer.

I would 100% prefer to buy these and own them, even if it cost a little more.

I just beat both games on my New 2DS XL, a couple months back, and I didn't have to pay a subscription to access them.
As for the games, they're okay, but don't come close to what Link to the Past offered.

Unknown_Gamer579466d ago

Personally, any mainline Zelda game, major or minor, consistently captures my time like few others series can. A Link to the Past and subsequent games of the 3D variety tend to be main course offerings, whereas I see the handheld offerings as more like a side salad, but all of the above are amazing enough that I certainly enjoy that side salad more than some main courses in other franchises. I suppose that's a compliment to the series, as few are nearly as consistent, even in the best of franchises.

Unknown_Gamer579466d ago

Awesome, I love these games! I wish they were still available for purchase outside of a subscription, but that's all the more reason to be thankful to have them on my 3DS.

gold_drake66d ago

i desperately need to get my hands on a modded 3ds xl or even a ds xl lol
that can play all them games, but i dont know much about them.

Chocoburger66d ago

A modded New 3DS XL or New 2DS XL is a-maz-ing! Look at the native emulators it can play.

NES / SNES / GB / GBC / GBA / DS / 3DS / SMS / GG / GEN.

But it can play even more if you install Retroarch. But make sure to buy a thick case, it makes holding the system so much more comfortable, otherwise your hands will cramp up real bad.

Nintendo Switch Online Adding Game Boy and Game Boy Advance Games

Nintendo has announced that it is adding Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games to the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service.

Maltaze235d ago

This is probably the best addition to Switch Online so far.

phoenixwing235d ago

If they get final fantasy tactics advance I'll be playing it like no tomorrow

Maltaze235d ago

Oh yeah I loved that game. I did actually... admittedly emulate it earlier as a kid to play it on PC since there were no copies around in my country. Would love to go legit on that title.

closed_account235d ago

Not only one of my favorite GBA titles, but also one of my overall favorite games of all time! I was thinking about that too as they were showing.

I really loved the penalty card system. Many people complained that it was annoying, but I found it an even greater challenge that kept you on your toes, made you think of solutions in new roundabout ways.

I was really happy to see Golden Sun listed for the feature. TLOZ Minish Cap and Mario Bros Super Star Saga are 2 huge scores too. I think I'm finally going to pull the trigger on an Expansion Pack Plus membership. I'm still not happy about the price or the service, but this is enticing enough.

phoenixwing235d ago

Sorry it wasn't available. Not to hate on where you live but it sounds like your place is crap video game wise.

roadkillers235d ago

Oooo, Warioware and Minish Cap!

AnotherGamer235d ago

It took them this long to implement it!

FallenAngel1984235d ago

Curious how they reveal this right around the time eShop and Virtual Console will be taken offline for 3DS & Wii U

Nice distraction Nintendo
