God NO! The MCU is beyond awful now, or as it is now the "M-SHE-U", not everything needs to be part of some interconnected universe. Also this would greatly hinder creative freedom as making huge narrative changes would need to make sense for other games that are connected.
The MCU's big problem is..that more or less all Marvel movies and series are a part of it. Which makes something like a bloody Blade movie or a truly mature Punisher movie or series impossible.
Any Punisher movie is actually impossible now since his iconic logo was used by terrorists, now he's a ninja with swords with a completely different logo.
Well, the same MCU that you bash now with no regret gave us the likes of the Avengers movies, and damn, wasn't that something of a series. The recent Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was amazing top-to-bottom as well. Sure, and I agree with you on that part, that Marvel hasn't been at its level best lately, but a cross-over like this in gaming isn't such a bad idea.
MCU died with Endgame. There were some flutters of life with No Way Home and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 but they weren't enough to make up for the entire MCU. At best we get some good Spiderman movies in the future but the MCU is dead.
I think each character should have their own 'age' and aren't directly related at all. Gives them more space to evolve the characters and bring in more relevant elements from the comics rather than a white washed world where everything has to match up
Idk. I like the idea but...I would like them to work on new and old ips as well. It'd take decades and generations for them to work on other heroes and them to be of at least the same quality as insomniac's spiderman and build all of them up for an avenger's game. Not necessary, and take your time to make a good quality game instead Insomniac.
The mainline MCU movies up to Endgame are like 75% filler and slapped together to imply continuity even though most of the movies have nothing to do with one another. Literally, Avengers 1 and 2 have zero impact on the MCU even though they're flagship titles in the series.
I think if it's done by the same developer sure but to have multiple developers working on a project like this is what kind of hinders the films within the MCU. I mean some of the ideas writers/directors have for their films in regards to certain characters either ruins them or contradicts how they appear in other future films. For example I hate what they did to Taskmaster in Black Widow which ruins a chance of a Taskmaster done properly in future films, they aren't changing the character for the future Thunderbolts film and it sucks so bad because they should have used Anthony Masters. This is just one example out of many.
There's a good chance however that Insomniac could build on a very small contained Universe with only games developed by them but I doubt you'd get many cross overs and the like with multiple characters.
Films have it easier because they can introduce a character in a film at the start of the year and utilize them a little by the end of that same year, the next time you see them could be the following year in their own solo film and finally a big cross over event but with games, especially if they are developed by one studio, you are looking at 3-4 years before you see any of them again.
At the end of the day though quality over quantity. I hope after Spiderman 2 Insomniac will leave Spiderman for a while and pick a new comic book character. Least then once we get Spiderman 3 later down the road it will be on the PS6 and will have new technology to play with to make it feel fresh
Not a fan of the idea. I already dislike the fact that Insomniac was basically turned into Marvel game studios for the forseeable future. I'd prefer to see a new original IP from them after Wolverine, but realistically Sony will probably want them to keep oversaturating the market with super hero games until people get sick of them, the same way Disney did it with the movies.

I don’t want Insomniac to give up on original franchises to do this
kinda agree, cause hollywood and disney shows almost all marvel content is pure hot garbage after End game.
