Why We're Worried About The Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake

The PlayStation Showcase offered an early look at a variety of new games coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR, but the biggest reveal was undoubtedly a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The title is one of the worst-kept secrets in the industry and, finally, it is out in the open. The immediate response, naturally, was excitement, particularly from the GameSpot team. But in the hours following, concerns began to arise.

Why we're worried:
1. All the obvious reasons
-and there are plenty

Still looking forward to see what it is tho.

I really do not understand the worry that Kojima is not involved. What remake has the original director involved? All the work they would do is already done, makes no damn sense

Nitrowolf2118d ago

Not only that, but the concern that Kojima is not involved is also something that Kojima has opening addresses in the past before about wanting to move on from the series and pass it to someone else.

Well MGS Twin Snakes and RE1 remake had the original directors. But Dead Space and RE2/4 didn't have the original directors and were amazing.

So it's really not an indication of potential quality...just have to wait for gameplay for now.

Twin snakes is a nintendo abomonation. Miyamoto and iwata, are signed to it. Kojima was working on mgs3 at the time.

I'm not worried that Kojima isn't part of it, the template is already there.
I'm worried because Konami IS part of it.

I worry because even if they get this one right, if they continue with remakes we'll run into problems. MGS3 has huge story revelations that were built up to in MGS 1 and 2. Especially 2. The narrative was designed to be played in order. If they then remake 1 and 2 they'll have to alter a lot of the dialogue which will have a very big impact on the narrative. Without Kojima I have zero faith that they'll get that right.

This isn't Dead Space or Resident Evil. They're screwing with a massive story that was crafted to be told a very specific way across an entire series. It's not the same.

Kojima was involved with the remake Twin Snakes, and it was a disaster for many reasons.

If its a faithful remake to the original source material why the hell would you even be worried
hop off the Konami hate bandwagon its getting waaay too old, the world doesn't revolve around Kojima's name

You dont have to like Kojima to be worried about Konami’s involvement

You literally only need to look at everything Konami has put out recently to at the very least be somewhat concerned.

I would like to remind you that the team working on this is the same that made the eFootball games… (another series that serves as an example of what recent Konami is like).

I’m honestly more pessimistic than optimistic about the project, and more than happy to be proven wrong since its such an amazing game

Yeah dude, I just think you don’t know gaming or follow gaming. Konami has pretty much destroyed every gaming IP they have.

They were lucky to have Hideo there long enough to at least keep them relevant.

They destroyed the best horror franchise ever made multiple times. On top of that they haven’t made one single great game in the past 15 years minus MGS5 which they almost did destroy.. The devs of MGS5 had to really scramble to get the game where it was at and cut so much that it almost ruined the game.

I think they should just sell off their IPS and stick with making gambling games .

I wonder if they will remove the load screens? I kind of hope they do.

"In addition, the game will likely lack the bizarre charm, humor, and depth that can only be found in games that Kojima himself worked on."

If its a remake that stays loyal to the source material how is this an issue?

Kojima cultists are wacky

jznrpg96d ago

If they change the script that’s where they would f up big time. They would be stupid to do that

Try not to pivot from the smartest enemies ever to zombies.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Has the Perfect Chance To Follow Up on a Major Revelation

With a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 on the horizon, game developers have a chance to tie in one of the series' biggest narrative reveals.

Syphos102d ago

Just remake the game, don't add anything I don't trust Konami to change anything and pull it off properly at the same time.

So no thanks :>
