[REDACTED]: Absolutely Games & Team17 Release Mysterious Game Teaser; More Details May 31

The teaser for [REDACTED] shows off a tragic World War-era setting, featuring some manner of murderous supernatural force.

SullysCigar124d ago

Intrigued. You can learn stuff from a teaser like this. For example, this game will not feature a window cleaner. Presumably he was killed in the war, which is very sad.

Sega has cancelled Hyenas ‘and some unannounced games in development’

The move was made “in response to the lower profitability of the European region”

Honestly smart move, there's enough pvp, operator/hero based pvp GAAS games with this same generic style out and upcoming.

Vits5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

That is really sad. Not only cancelling Hyenas, but the other unannounced game and cutting funds yet again for Creative Assembly. This would be the first time in a decade that Sega let those guys do something other than the Total War series and the last time this happened, Creative Assembly delivered one of the best horror experiences out there in the form of ALIEN: ISOLATION.

I get that profitability is low. But maybe it's because Creative Assembly has been stuck putting out yearly releases of the Total War series. Those games are great, don't get me wrong but the market is extremely saturated with them and they are limited in public as they are only available on PC and PC players are know for making their favourite titles last a long time. To the point that people are still playing Total War Shogun 2 from 2011 at reasonable numbers...

So I feel this is a very bad move. It basically boxes the studio in a situation where they are unlikely to improve their profitability. Now not only they will go back to the same yearly franchise, but they will have to do that with a lower budget and likely team as well.

TheColbertinator1h ago

The problem with Total War is that they (CA) themselves saturate the series to death. Out of the last 5 Total War games I felt only Three Kingdoms was presenting new bold ideas. Troy, Britannia, Rome Remastered and Warhammer 3 all felt sloppy or lazy.

Vits54m ago

That is the issue with yearly releases. There is no way a company could manage that and create original and innovative content for each entry. It's a pretty much mutually exclusive situation. And why this cancellations and cuts just sucks. Now TW is literally everything this studio has but with less budget and likely fewer people to work on each entry.

So if you thought their last releases were sloppy or lazy. I would expect that to get even worse and then I would be surprised if Sega closes them, just like they did Creative Assembly Australia before.

Can't understand how it would save them money.

If the game was basically finished then surely release it and get a little cash. Surely the money has been spent already and now the easy bit is to release it. ?

Terry_B5h ago

It was supposed to be an online only game that gets updates for years. These would have cost em more than the development so far probably if the game bombs

Terry_B5h ago

They could have canceled it months ago already after seeing the reaction to the trailer(s). Nobody was caring or hyped about this.

Honkai Star Rail's $1B Success and Its Impact on Genshin

MiHoYo's concerted efforts to promote HSR to Genshin Impact's existing player base, as well as collaborations with Genshin Impact influencers who switched their focus to HSR, have been witnessed by the gaming community. While leveraging an existing player base is a sound strategy, it's important to remember that both HSR and Genshin Impact require significant time and financial investments from players.

FTC Resumes the Fight Against Microsoft's Acquisition of Activision Blizzard

The FTC has resumed its administrative case against the proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft after having temporarily paused it in July.

The FTC will continue its case 21 days after the 9th Circuit ruling on the FTC's appeal, which will likely pass.

There is no preliminary injunction stopping the merger from happening, meaning Microsoft can go ahead with the acquisition, however the FTC can still break them up if they win the case.

Abriael1d 4h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

It's a big if, especially since that would have to go through three degrees of judgment before it becomes effective. The chance of such a decision surviving the Supreme Court is basically zero.

What they're doing now is basically wasting taxpayer money in the hope that the loss will push congress to give them more powers so that they're less likely to lose in future cases.

erinlime1d 3h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

I think it's pretty clear the FTC isn't seeking to waste taxpayer money, considering they've also recently started a similar antitrust court case against Amazon. Too much corporate consolidation is harmful to the industry as you can see with what's going on with Embracer Group shutting down studios they bought, and while it's fair to also not approve of Sony acquisitions (and I would agree), it's impossible to find a parallel on the same scale as what Microsoft is attempting.

Abriael1d 3h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

They have lost. They know it. We know it. Everyone knows it.
Two courts have already found their arguments lacking and that was before Microsoft pulled the rug completely from the cloud part of the case by selling the rights to Ubisoft.
Whatever the administrative judge decides will
1: be too late. The acquisition is closing as soon as the CMA gives its final approval next week.
2: Useless, as seeking a divestiture would have to go through courts that have already decided against the FTC and have absolutely no reason to change their mind.

So yes. They're literally wasting money and resources, and forcing the companies involved to do the same.

Christopher23h ago

***They have lost. They know it. We know it. Everyone knows it. ***

No, not really. They can still require concessions similar to the CMA to make it happen.

Abriael19h ago

@christopher. No they can't. The acquisition will have long closed by when they get around to it.

dude shilling hard as if he gets paid by MS

@fsfs
he is been on the media for some years, i would not be surprised!

slate9110h ago

Yall start throwing around the 'shilling' word when arguments start to go over your head or you just simply don't know what you're talking about.

Christopher3h ago

Abriael, just because the merger can continue based on a judge's decision doesn't mean it still can't be stopped. I told you before that even the FTC wasn't done and could do more and you said I was wrong. I'm not. I'm also not wrong about this. This is from corporate lawyers familiar with the FTC. Having said that, it is not very likely the FTC will win still, but they do have that ability. They for sure are not out of the game.

There's a difference between random people on the Internet saying it's a done deal and the FTC actually closing out the case. The FTC isn't done yet.

Abriael just destroying everyone in these comments and then all the fanboys who don't like the truth click downvote. The N4G community doesn't represent anything other than Sony fanboys and little else.

Abriael, no they can still. Demand concession even after it's closed. Do some. Research bud. It's can be along the lines of,... We have no choice to but to break apart the company, unless you sell blah blah to blah etc.

This is. Common practise. Stop trying to sound like. You know. Everything, you know nothing. Do I think it's a waste of money, No, it's never wasted if your trying to stop corporations become all powerful and influencing the market. NO CHOICE, is bad for everyone. If Sony and Nintendo stopped gaming tomorrow, gamepass would be 60 quid a month before December.
