Yeah I want to play this. Seems I'm getting more reasons to enjoy my ps5

FinalFantasyFanatic374d ago

Was that ship to ship sea combat? Yes please!

This looks better than 9 already . I’d love a collection/s or releases of Book 1&2 , Wanderers from Ys , Mask of the Sun , Lost Kefin , Ark of Naphistm and Oath of Felghana on PS5. I have the originals but want to play them on PS5 . Throw in Celceta for the hell of it though I have PS4 version and PS5 version of Lacrimosa of Dana and 9 of course . Hopefully it releases in NA soon after and give me Japanese voice option please. I’m not asking for much lol

Review: Ys X -Nordics- (Frontline Gaming Japan)

Despite its flaws, Ys X is still a really fun game and one of the better Ys games. But new players would be better off starting with VIII.

As a whole, it looks like they are simplifying everything from the previous 3 games. Which is both a good and a bad thing.

Good because it has become very clear that they were bloating the games with side-plots which left a lot of characters underdeveloped. But bad because it also crept it the gameplay and Ys was not particularly mechanic-extensive to begin with.

The graphic bit is a tad curious. Ys is not visually impressive looking mostly like some sort of a highly polished PS3 game. So having to tone down the visuals further is odd. Maybe it's to better fit the Switch? As the previous games are also known to run poorly on the console.

It looks awesome. I don't like the fact that the story is moving backward by giving us a younger version of Adol just to appease to the children demographic of the Switch though.

Not only that, it happens right after Ys 1+2, so he isn't even called an adventurer yet.

jznrpg290d ago

They have made a lot of these games. Going back to earlier days isn’t abnormal for a long running series. I doubt it had anything to do with switch kids. He doesn’t look too much younger than in any other game.

But the game is also being released on PlayStation consoles. Why would you think the demographics of Switch gamers dictated the story production of the game?

Zeldafan64290d ago

The majority of people playing the Switch are over 18. About 1/3 of Switch players are under 18.

Nah! You're reaching.

FinalFantasyFanatic289d ago

It's not uncommon for Ys games to jump around in the timeline, they've done this before. In fact, there's often a divide for newcomers on whether they should play release order or chronological order as they begin to tackle the franchise.

Definitely looks like they are starting to get an increased budget. They have my attention.

FusedAbc289d ago

Hopefully it's for the Switch 2? Y's X was way to hard on the eyeballs.

FusedAbc289d ago

I meant 9 Nox or whatever ever it was titled ha!

raWfodog289d ago

Releasing in about 40 days so I’d say ‘nope’ lol

Still the graphics is underwhelming but overall looks great. I want to play it.
