Does anyone really not get this?

EDIT: Also "soft fighting game" lol - I realise I'm taking this in the wrong context, but it struck me as a funny way to word anything relating to Mortal Kombat!

Bad wording. Should've been "soft reboot of the fighting game". ChatGPT eyeing these video game journalist jobs.

I just watched the YouTube preview. Holy wow, this looks amazing. Those fatalities are incredible!

Notellin125d ago

That was a quick explanation as it's quite obvious where the name comes from when you are attempting a soft reboot.

So he can milk the franchise for another 30 years.

11 was the best selling MK game of all. This franchise is a cash cow. It's also still awesome so why quit?

Mr_Nobody125d ago

Because it worked so well for Xbox.

If you're talking about Xbox One, didn't they call it that because it was intended to be a central entertainment device? All-in-one, if you will?

If you mean the Series consoles, I think you're right about that being a reboot because I believe Spencer said it's really just known as the Xbox at this point. So One S is in their S Series and One X is in their X Series, for example. If anything, it means they will create at least two separate models going forward. I think they'll also have a Series C for a Cloud/USB device, but that's just me speculating.

They wanted to follow the same path like Microsoft did with Xbox. Next MK installment will use the Series name.

Review - Mortal Kombat 1 (Switch) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Leo Faria: "In short, Mortal Kombat 1 on the Nintendo Switch is a magnum opus of ineptitude and incompetence. I don’t know how the hell Nintendo allowed for this game to be launched on their system (I do understand WB probably did not care about doing some quality check on their end, though). It is something that needs to be played for you to believe it even exists. Not only is this the worst Switch port of a AAA title out there, this might be the single most pathetic entry in Mortal Kombat history. Yes, even more than Advance or Special Forces. At least those games weren’t being advertised as equals to ports on more powerful machines.

As previously mentioned, if this ever falls down to about fifteen bucks, and if NetherRealm never decides to patch it to a decent state (not that I think they can, or can be bothered to), grab it. Laughed at it. Bully it. This is the Deadly Premonition, The Room, Money Plane, “so-atrocious-it’s-absolutely- amazing” event of the decade. I hope they add this specific port to EVO, I hope a cult following is created around it. I am fascinated at how horrendous this thing is."
