Some people haven't appreciated Phil's honesty here and see it as admitting defeat, but Spencer is just laying out the reality of Microsoft's place in the gaming industry right now. Most gamers are already committed to a platform of their choice and have invested in this. Playstation has been the dominant console since its release in 1994, and since the doomed Xbox One generation, its lead is insurmountable. Spencer is describing how Xbox's focus needs to be on other avenues to compete and ultimately grow.
Console Creatures writes, "Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army is a standout example of what bringing an older title to modern consoles should be."
I want to buy this but I don’t have time right now to play it so I’ll wait a little bit to grab a copy.
WTMG's Kyle Nicol: "System Shock 2 is an all-time great, easily one of the most important games of all time, and Nightdive’s 25th Anniversary Remaster edition makes it a touch more accessible without ever gutting its core, or anything that made it so cherished in the first place. The excellent core gameplay and stellar level design come together for an unforgettable experience. Furthermore, the fact it works shockingly well on a controller is already something worthy of a medal of honor for the studio. Now, while we’re at it, where’s that System Shock 3 we were promised all those years ago? I’m hungry for more!"
MonsterVine: "Shuffle Tactics from Club Sandwich struggles to balance difficulty with fairness, leading to an experience more frustrating than fun, even with accessibility options turned on."
The switch to digital was critical for consumer retention. The majority of people won't change phone ecosystems for the same reason.
They can still easily compete by putting those 23 studios to work. They gave competition before with the 360 and did fine despite rrod, and lack of releases toward the end. Games sell console , please tell me people and falling for the defeated words of ol Phillip Spencer. Keep telling yourself. Ms would do just fine with a traditional console, traditional game sales, just bring the damn games. Ps Nintendo appears to have outsold ps during the ps3 360 wii Era. As someone who prefers ps, Nintendo is still alive and kicking.
I just think the statement where trying to compete by having better games on the platform was a very wrong way to look at things.
I understand in the short-term it’s not an instant change, but as you build a portfolio of game and keep with it consistently, then yes it’s dangling the carrot in front of a consumer and eventually they’ll bite.
The only reason I own an Xbox is for their exclusives. I don’t own an Xbox for Gamepass and Cloud Gaming.
If that’s their attitude, then just pull out of the race. I’m speaking solely as a consumer, but if you’re not offering anything good on your platform and consistently, I don’t want any part of your platform.
Fortunately MS hasn't had there own way. Thinking they could muscle into the console space and dominate. Bad luck lol 😆
Where are those jeering the 12TF Vs 10TF fiasco....I want to know where they are...
