Redfall is a Prime Example of a Good Xbox Game Pass Title

While Redfall may not be the game that Arkane fans were hoping for, it’s a great example of the type of titles that are perfect for Xbox Game Pass.

Some people don't want to pay for quality so they shouldn't be surprised when they end up with rubbish

InUrFoxHole772d ago

Except there's a lot of good games on GP.

JEECE772d ago

Most of those games were developed to be sold and ended up on Gamepass later, though I guess there are a few exceptions to that like Forza Horizon 5.

Lore771d ago

Those are games that are old, the exact same thing can be said for Playstation’s subscription service. Day one games (that people pay $120-180 a year for) have been trash

InUrFoxHole771d ago

@Jeece
A lot of people don't buy day 1. So gp is a solid option

--Onilink--771d ago (Edited 771d ago )

@JEECE

All current games were made to be sold and ended up on gamepass later. They started working on this since the Prey DLC which came out in 2018 (probably even before that since DLC usually doesnt involve the full team).

The Bethesda acquisition wasnt even completed until 2021.

The idea that this game (or any game with such a lenghty dev time) was “designed for gamepass” is just idiotic.

If anything, its smaller games with a quicker dev cycle like Pentiment or Hi-Fi Rush that you could MAYBE apply that kind of thought to, and even then I still fail to see what a game made just for gamepass is supposed to mean in terms of quality or gameplay

TheEnigma313771d ago (Edited 771d ago )

ehhhhh there are some decent ones, but not worth the $15 a month they are asking for. Best game is probably AC Odyssey

Or for some people the model fits their lifestyle better. You can enjoy buying all your titles while some people enjoy Gamepass. It's ok to have different options available as a consumer.

CBaoth771d ago

RedFall is the worst 1st party release in the last decade by ANY of the platform holders. GP is garbage if that's the quality we can look forward to. I guess it's up another AA indie title to prop up the service since MS sold us on fake bill of goods. What else do you need besides the last 16 months of crickets then Redfall? MS might as well shadowdrop a remastered N64 Superman at this point.

notachance771d ago

well I mean, if the subscribers are these accepting then indeed it is a prime example of games that fit them.

Kaii772d ago

We've come to the acceptance stage of grief, congratulations.
You can't always get what you want, but with an Xbox game pass you get what you need.

solideagle772d ago

I was thinking the same thing, if its good example what would be bad example then?

masterfox772d ago

yikes!, I been saying for years how gamepass games are mediocre, average or old, and lots people calling some of comments trolling and other stuff, and well look at it now , I have seen more and more how some game websites are acknowledging the fact that this is the quality you should expect for a gamepass game, ever wonder why when you go to Netflix you keep scrolling and scrolling down , up , left , right for literally alot of time and hope to find something you like?, you know why that happens?, well is because.... THE CONTENT EFFING SUCKS!!!!!!!!! , and sorry everyone but I have to say this but, Starfield is the next victim of gamepass and MS imo.😢

these is one some of the reviews that shows how bad of a game REDFALL is:

darkrider772d ago

Perfect for Gamepass? Only for gamers that want to waste time with such a mediocre game. Ridiculous. There much better games available.

XiNatsuDragnel772d ago

Gamepass is where mediocre goes to die imo

Bathyj772d ago

I disagree.
Mediocrity thrives there.

Crows90771d ago

I disagree. I don't think these games count this mediocre they are far lesser media

Concord, Suicide Squad, Fairgame$ And ‘Vibes-Based’ Failures

Paul Tassi: "Sony recently reiterated its commitment to live service games with one big hit last year (Helldivers 2), one big cancellation (The Last of Us Factions) and one big failure (Concord). It’s no great surprise it is continuing down this road, given the way the industry is trending and the limited shelf life of its famed single player games. But it immediately made me think of a game that Sony is allegedly releasing that I have to believe is pre-destined to fail, Fairgame$."

Alos88162d ago

Fairgame$ feels like it's destined to flop out the gate- that initial trailer felt full of that same instantly-dated 'fight The Man with a ragtag team of weirdos' energy that was prevalent in Sega's Hyenas (which they wisely cancelled.) Unlike Marathon I just don't see this standing a chance.

Nacho_Z162d ago

It will definitely flop, missed the boat by a couple of years. Agreed that Marathon has a decent chance of succeeding it looks genuinely good and interesting.

It can't be sustainable having all these expensive GaaS being DOA being balanced by the odd modest success like Helldivers. The aim is to find the new Fortnite or whatever but it's highly unlikely and seems to be a massive waste of money.

Concord and the Other Biggest Flops of This Generation

Some of the biggest success stories in the history of gaming have happened during this generation of gaming. At the same time, some of the biggest flops in the history of gaming have also happened during this generation of gaming. To this end, a few games particularly stick out as, unfortunately, disastrous flops for those who made the games, sold the games, and ultimately, for many that played the games.

What a strange, short list. There have been many more games that arrived DOA, were never released, didn’t make their budget back, etc. Why cherry pick these games? Is this list based on the size of internet hate boners?

EternalTitan279d ago

These flops have a similarity that you may not be allowed to point out.

Skull and Bones gets my vote, at this point just completely remake AC Black Flag. If the Concord developers had made the game free to play, and toned down the in your face messaging via the mods and design choices, this game could have been serviceable eventually. I never understand why pandering to 5% of your audience and giving the finger to the other 95% seems like a good idea to these people. They never seem to learn. Disney has lost 1/3rd of its value and they keep doubling down on political messaging. I don’t get it.

BlackTar187279d ago

Some of these companies are paid huge amounts of money to do this stuff. They get truck loads of money to give “the message”
By blackrock and vanguards and multiple other venture capitalists even though it’s been proven over and over they fail.

I'm not interested in this game but i think it's great they added the offline mode for those who are.

darthv72378d ago

It was okay at first... once they added the performance update it was definitely better.

TwoPicklesGood379d ago

Bury this turd. It’s only good as a reminder of what devs shouldn’t do.

mkis007378d ago

I hate the concept of an announced final update.
