EA appears to block Jedi: Survivor story progression until latest patch is installed

EA appears to block Jedi: Survivor story progression until the latest patch is installed: It appears that EA is so bothered by Jedi: Survivors’ latest performance blunders that they have blocked game progression until players have downloaded the latest patch.

This is a bad precedent. Not everyone had access to fast internet. Not surprised ea pulled this crap.

You'd think companies would have got the memo after the disastrous Xbox One reveal and the many bad game launches but evidently not.

StarkR3ality748d ago

Why are you bringing the Xbox into this? Their PC ports tend to be pretty polished tbh, it's Sony recently that fucked that up with the Last of us.

Regardless of the platform though this shit is unacceptable, I've had to stop playing and because of the issues and with how busy life is if I get burned by a game, I very rarely have time to give it a second chance and I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat.

kingnick749d ago

This comment made me think "It could've been worse I suppose, like BF2042" lol.

StarkR3ality749d ago

Yeah I've had to drop down to 30fps on console as the performance mode both looks and plays awful. Feel a bit let down by it all. The game clearly needed more time in the oven and it would of been a solid 8 - 9/10 so far if these performance issues didn't happen, shit even at 30fps my PS5 is struggling with drops and micro stutters, it's pathetic.

jznrpg749d ago

I was planning on waiting already as I have a lot of games to play but reading about the issues before launch guaranteed it until it’s fixed.

StarkR3ality748d ago

Yeah dude, I'd wait until Digital foundry do like a follow up review of a patch where they say the game is playable. That's what I'm doing, it's really an eye sore and if people are saying the game runs fine, my guess is they have only just got a current gen console and are not yet used to stable frame rates, I've had both consoles from pretty much day one and it's hard to give up solid 60fps once you're used to it unless it's a solid 40fps, that I can manage.

ModsDoBetter749d ago

Also sporting some glitched trophies too…

Glitched trophies: 4

Splurgle is unobtainable for everyone because of a Priorite Shard not spawning in Rambler’s Reach Outpost on Koboh, making the platinum trophy, The Jedi Survivor also unobtainable.

Trophy Perk of the Job is glitchy for some but fine for others. They’re Probably Fine is also a little buggy.

Shame, the game looks great but more and more games are releasing broken or missing entire features promised features & now forcing people to download a patch in order to…finish the game? Yeah, I might hold off until they optimise this and inevitably release some “GoTY edition” with everything on disc (assuming they manage to properly optimise the game and shrink that file size down similar to what Acti done with the Spyro trilogy)

kingnick749d ago

From reviews the PS5 looked like the lead platform in that less issues were reported but I didn't see any reviewer who had played the game on multiple platforms and compared performance.

Users on all platforms seem to be complaining about issues while other users report little to no issues which I can understand for the PC version given the plethora of PC hardware but it's odd for the experience on consoles to be so variable.

StarkR3ality748d ago

It's probably depending on your tolerance for shit frame rate. With nearly every game now been 60fps or giving you options for 40fps etc I feel like I've been spoiled 😂

Also anyone who has an OLED will know this, because of the pixel response time lower frame rate content has a lot more judder than your standard LED TV's. L

Where is the time going, this is 2 now? Also, RE4 remake and Diablo 4…

Putte17d ago

Absolutely not the best Star Wars game. That's Star Wars galaxys. Survivor isn't even that good

Becuzisaid17d ago

Not sure I agree about Galaxies, but I definitely think the Jedi series is not the best.

Sonic188117d ago

So what's the best Jedi series?

Becuzisaid17d ago

@Sonic I was meaning the Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor games. Not the greatest.

If you're wanting to know what's the best series with Jedi in it? I mean KOTOR, Jedi Knight, Jedi Academy, Force Unleashed off the top of my head. Even the Episode 3 tie in game was pretty decent.

xHeavYx16d ago

Not a huge Star Wars fan, and only tried Jedi Survivor because of PS+, but I really enjoyed the game to the point where I'd pre-order the sequel.

Fonsecap17d ago

Good game, terrible performance.

jznrpg17d ago

I loved the game but hated the issues. I waited over a year to play it and it still had major issues. I would have went for the platinum but with all the save bugs and other issues I didn’t even think about it

Sciurus_vulgaris17d ago

I’ve played both Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor. I think the games are good not great.
