Debunked Metal Gear Leaks Prove a Remake or Reboot Is Long Overdue

The latest rumor about a Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake has been dubunked, but it only makes the wait for the series' return even harder.

With how much Konami is re-investing in video game development, the return of Metal Gear Solid seems a matter of when not if. Still, it’s got to be done right. Remaking the beloved survival-horror game Silent Hill 2 seems like a daunting enough task, but that doesn’t even match the reverence fans have for Metal Gear.

It doesn't prove it at all
It might strengthen your opinion of it but that's not proof

Metal Gear is dead. Just leave it alone. We've seen what happens when Kojima isn't involved in MG projects. We don't need to taint its legacy any more.

neutralgamer1992158d ago

bluepoint games could do it and do it well with input from kojima

i doubt konami will fund 50-75 million budget so that's where sony will come in(i think)

Snookies12158d ago

I agree if you are talking solely about NEW Metal Gear games. But Remasters/Remakes of older titles are VERY welcome at this point.

Ninver158d ago

FU. Myself and many gamers want a remake of MGS. It's probably the most requested remake yet keeps getting overlooked. It's actually quite annoying.

porkChop158d ago

MGS already got a full remake. How many times do you want them to remake the same game?

Ninver158d ago

What? When has MGS ps1 ever gotten a remake? I think you're confused.

Shane Kim158d ago (Edited 158d ago )

It got remade back on the gamecube. But that's a long time ago and it wasn't very good.

"What? When has MGS ps1 ever gotten a remake? I think you're confused."

Twin Snakes on Gamecube. It's MGS1 with MGS2 mechanics. It's usually not considered a very good remake, because it added some sillyness and the MGS2 mechanics trivialize the level design of Shadow Moses, but I have my doubts about Konami doing much better today to be honest.

Ninver157d ago

I don't consider that a remake. We're talking a true 1 for 1 remake of MGS1. Updated graphics and smother gameplay mechanics.

I personally think it will happen but why start with 3rd. I think sony will fund or co-fund the development and started with MGS1. Ask blue point games i am sure they can do amazing job

Snookies12158d ago

Probably because MGS 3 is the starting point of the entire franchise. Before even the original two Metal Gear games, and definitely before Metal Gear Solid 1. They'd be doing it in the proper order based off the timeline.

Hofstaderman158d ago

Chronological order would make sense on paper. There were however a lot of tongue in cheek reference to games that came before that may not translate so well if they release remakes chronologically.

sadraiden157d ago

There's no Metal Gear without Kojima. Period.

jeromeface157d ago (Edited 157d ago )

You don't need kojima to retell his story... we're not talking new content. If mgs gets remade there's nothing saying its going to be konami doing it.

Well, so much for the debunking.

The Metal Gear Solid Remasters Will Not Have Keyboard/Mouse Support On PC

According to a now-deleted store page, none of the Metal Gear Solid games will have keyboard and mouse support on PC.

Flawlessmic98d ago

why would you even want to play these games with a mouse and keyboard lol

porkChop98d ago

Why not? While I prefer controller for 3rd person games I still recognize that not everyone wants to use a controller.

RaidenBlack96d ago

Because not everybody likes to play holding a controller? Irrespective of the fact that the game might be more enjoyable whilst playing using a controller.
Releasing a software on PC and saying it won't support the platform's default input hardware, lol.

luckytrouble98d ago

Everyone has their own preference. Why do you assume everyone wants to play everything with a controller? Is it suddenly a bad thing if people actually have access to their preferred control method? Believe it or not, ending a comment with "lol" as if it's just so darn obvious does not suddenly make your point valid or good.

Flawlessmic98d ago

they are 3rd person action games, they don't lend themselves to being played via keyboard and mouse, just seems like a very imprecise way to play them.

itd be like me trying to play starcraft with a controller, the thought is funny to me as that would just be weird.

anyways didnt mean to insult, just seems a weird way to play those games, id say konami agrees.

Omegasyde98d ago

^ played StarCraft N64 just fine (KBM still was preferred though).

The point is why not have the option to?

Flawlessmic98d ago

like i said didnt mean to insult and obvs allowing people a choice is preferred.

all i meant was it seems a weird way to play, nothing more nothing less

FinalFantasyFanatic98d ago

3rd person action games are perfect for Keyboard and Mouse, don't know how you could ever justify otherwise.

Number1TailzFan98d ago

Indeed, keyboard and mouse is ideal for quite a few game types, like management/sim style games, RTS, first person, third person.

Then you have racing/fighting games etc which work better with a controller.
