Firewall Ultra Will Add 'Ultra Mode' Post-Launch With Manual Reloads

First Contact Entertainment will support manual reloading, friendly fire and aim assist options, adding a hardcore "ultra mode" in a post-launch update to Firewall Ultra.

Revealed by First Contact Entertainment CEO Hess Barber in a comment on YouTube, the confirmation follows press previews last month for the upcoming tactical shooter, which arrives exclusively on PSVR 2 soon.

“An "Ultra mode" is coming post-launch with manual reloads, friendly fire and no aim assist for the hardcore players. This will be a separate mode than our main public matchmaking, it is for pro players and it will not replace our current auto reload. It will live alongside it for those that prefer that way to play.”

I don’t want aim assist when I’ve got amazing VR aiming at my fingertips.

Same here, so this is awesome news! PSVR Without Parole indicated these elements have been in development for some time, and have only been announced now due to some gamers being concerned about push-button reloads after that's what was seen in the previews.

I'm fine with them having modes for VR noobs - it's only like having optional click turning, teleportation or vision vignettes - but it should never be at the expense of the VR veterans and moving the medium forward.

Firewall Ultra is breaking new ground in so many areas (for example flash bang grenades affecting you less if you close your eyes when they go off), so I was relieved to hear they'll let us have the hardcore experience we'd expect from a tactical shooter like Firewall.

Let’s hope they ban people from the “Ultra mode” that go in and screw up things for a team (TKing, or blocking a doorway). There is usually someone now and then that does that and thinks it’s funny😡

Is this a joke? Pavlov has manual reloads and no aim assist. I'm going to have to swerve this, if its n00b friendly.

Same, but they're shoving the noobs under a separate mode, so no problem. If anything, it's better, as it keeps people that don't play properly out of the way.

They can go and play it like COD and wonder why they lose every round over on the 'training wheels' mode lol

Its splitting the lobbies down the middle though, and i don't think there is going to be millions of players day 1.
