VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "It’s been almost two years now since the release of Returnal, a game I was very excited for when it was announced but only sort of excited for by the time it released. Since then, Returnal has received a number of significant updates that add a lot of value to the experience, and with the title having just been ported to PC, I felt it was worth revisiting the PlayStation 5’s first major first-party title and seeing how it’s changed, where it’s improved, and where some problems still remain."
Ilari Kuittinen and Gregory Louden of Returnal developer Housemarque have revealed during an interview with Eurogamer at the studio’s 30th anniversary event last week that it has no plans to develop live-service or free-to-play games, “as long as people are buying premium games.”
One of the best PS5 exclusives looks and plays better on PS5 Pro. Digital Foundry reports.
I just played it on the pro earlier and its so smooth and looks much sharper than the base PS5.

Wow this is amazing, I was just replaying this game on Ps5 and loving it again, and now a patch for the Pro... Amazing... Can't wait to check it out on the Pro now...

I've got to try some Returnal again on my PS5 Pro, it's one of my favorite games this generation.
That's great news! Because of the coop mode I was able to beat some bosses. Gonna play more after the update
I loved Returnal. It's just an amazing game!
That said, I did not play it the way the devs intended and have no shame about playing it the way I wanted to instead. If you are like me and turned off by super difficult games and the random shuffling level nonsense of rogue-lites then I here to tell you there is another way. Using cloud saves and save scumming turns Returnal into a fixed layout kick ass Metroid like experience and I loved every minute of playing it this way.
To that point; Dear rogue-like devs, please add fixed run modes to your games! PLEASE!
I can't tell you how many games I've skipped as soon as I hear the words rogue-like because I can't Fing stand the random reshuffling mechanic. HATE IT! For those of us that just want to enjoy an old fashioned fixed layout please offer this option in your games.
If your game is built around procedural generation just let the game create it's random procedural layout at the start of the game, but let us keep that layout like a traditional game if we want. Or, upon death, maybe offer players the option to keep playing their game on the same layout or reshuffle it all.
Adding this feature to your games will make a lot of folks happy!

I did not love returnal as much as lots of other people. I’m not saying it’s a bad game since obv people love it - it’s just not my type of game I guess.
I was the exact opposite, completely uninterested when announced but looked into it more and thought I'd give it a shot and man am I glad I did, awesome game and the sound design especially on a good set of cans, blew me away! We honestly need more games that have audio as good as this.
