You Can Skip 80% Of Ashley's Section In The Resident Evil 4 Remake, But There's A Catch

Most of the library section in Chapter 9 of Resident Evil 4's remake can be skipped. However, the strategy comes with a bit of a catch.

Nah, I noticed as the game goes on she starts to open up a bit and even makes some jokes. I think it was around the time she hops on the crane and starts going to work with that wrecking ball that I even started liking her a little bit.

In the original I didn't much care for her, but in the remake she's not so bad. By the end of the game, I even missed her a little bit, felt like her and Leon were developing some chemistry. Maybe that's going too far, but it made me wish the story could continue and maybe Leon was serious about training her to be his partner.

I found myself wanting their adventures to continue toward the end of the game. I’d like to see them pair up again at some point.

She feels more human here. She looks and acts like someone that was sheltered her whole life, but was rising to the occasion as best as she could. Unsure if she was serious about taking up some training, but I could see her as a rear officer, such as Rebecca used to be for the S.T.A.R.S.

You Can Skip 100% Of Ashley's Section In The Resident Evil 4 Remake, But There's A Catch

…the catch is not playing the game

myfathersbastard798d ago

I did this on my second play through. I just figured the time would work. And I hate the iron sights on the assault rifle so wasn’t a big deal to me, to miss it.

ZeekQuattro798d ago

I've been utilizing all the chances to skip segments on the game on subsequent runs. Well placed rrenades or mines play a big part in blowing threw parts of the village and castle. I'm shocked they haven't patched out some of the things you can do. I avoid the glitches people use for fear of it corrupting my save or some other nasty bug but laying out traps ahead of a cutscene and watching the enemies get KO'd before they can react is fair game to me.Even works on boss fights. As for the Ashley part one full playthrough of it is enough for me. I intended to utilize the shortcut every time now. I don't even use the assault rifle. I'd rather save the rounds for my sniper rifle.

For a zombie game/movie fan re4 is the worst in series. Re 1-3 were scary with og zombies and mr.X and nemesis. Re4 spannish talking villagers aint scary at all. Its more like action game than horror. But re4 og was good for the Wii motion controlls and the chainsaw. Im waiting if re4 remake get proper psvr2 support before i buy this one. Re2 and 3 remakes were superb but im holding on re4.

Ex-Naughty Dog Dev Says Resident Evil 4 Inspired Uncharted and Many More Action Games

Former Naughty Dog dev says Resident Evil 4 inspired Unchartted and even Gears of War, particularly the over-the-shoulder camera view.

CrimsonWing6926d ago

It revolutionized third-person shooters, in a genius way that gives you full control of aiming.

CrimsonWing6925d ago

No, I mean RE4. Like the whole snap to over-shoulder and precision aiming was what I meant.

I won’t deny Winback does pave the way in some respect. But it’s not the same at all.

InUrFoxHole26d ago

Both are great series. That's awesome

Samonuske26d ago

I thought this was common knowledge. Resident Evil Revolutionised over the shoulder aiming in 3rd person shooters/action games

italiangamer26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Influenced basically every third person action game made after it, GTA uses the over the shoulder perspective when shooting since the 4th installment, Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 too and the Batman Arkham series has the over the shoulder perspective as the main camera throughout the whole game series.
Obviously there are a ton more examples but you get the point 🗿.

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil34d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

__y2jb34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
