Resident Evil 4 Remake makes excellent use of the PS5's Adaptive Triggers

The DualSense really lives up to its name on the PS5 edition.

SullysCigar774d ago

Music to my ears, because that means it will make excellent use of the adaptive triggers on the Sense controllers when I play it soon on PSVR2. Now give me that date. I expect to hear once the mercenaries patch has dropped.

Neonridr774d ago

I'm hoping it's soon, I don't want to hold off playing the game too much longer.

SullysCigar774d ago

Me too, it's tough, but so worth it. I did it for RE Village and it paid off going in fresh!

Neonridr774d ago

@SullysCigar - I couldn't resist, I ended up playing and beating Village numerous times to get a bunch of the trophies done. I techincally haven't played RE3 yet (the remake), so I might give that a go in the meantime to help waste some time in hopes we get a VR announcement soon.

Babadook7774d ago (Edited 774d ago )

I agree with Sullys. Comparing the psvr2 demo for Village to the same flat screen demo earlier there was about a 10x increase in experience and enjoyment. 2 of my friends would say something similar so i know this is a pretty common opinion. And the actual game is mind blowing.

Neonridr774d ago

@Babadook7 - my enjoying for playing Village again in VR was extremely high, and that was for a game I was very familiar with. I can't even imagine what it will be like for a game I haven't played (aside from the original RE4)

I don’t think they’re talked about enough.

Sony has really displayed a level of innovation generation after generation.

The adaptive triggers can be somewhat of a nuisance in MP FPS titles during longer sessions but they can be switched off. They really do shine in those single player experiences or racing games from Dirt 5 to GT7.

It feels strange whenever I pick up my Xbox controller now. Whilst I find the asymmetrical layout more comfortable, the Dualsense just feels more premium and robust whilst also providing more feedback to the player.

I remember when they announced the touch pad on the DS4, it was met with skepticism, same with the speaker and initially the triggers of the Dualsense with naysayers worried about the longevity. I’ve had four Dualsense and never had a single issue. I hope they continue to build on the Dualsense/shock platform.

One thing I would like to see is better LE controllers.
I have the Ragnarok one and it’s…alright, but they can definitely do more in that regard. The Sea of Thieves controller on Xbox is incredible, as is the Forza Horizon 5 edition.

I really enjoyed the RE2 remake, but honestly the adaptive triggers kinda threw me off. Wasn't an issue, but I didn't really care for them if I am honest. It felt seemingly a bit random per weapon, and all the sudden would be noticeably hard to pull the trigger - will be curious to see how the RE4 version plays with them

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_924d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil3d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

Resident Evil 4 GameCube is 20 Years Old

The classic Resident Evil 4 GameCube release, the title that redfined the hugely popular series, debuted 20 years ago today.

Zeldafan64119d ago (Edited 119d ago )

Bought it the day it came out. Probably the most graphically impressive GameCube game.

cammers1995119d ago

Resident evil 1 remake looks better.

Zeldafan64119d ago (Edited 119d ago )

It looks great but it's also pre-rendered backgrounds in tight, enclosed spaces. From a technical perspective RE4 is more impressive.

Agent75119d ago

I'd say Resident Evil Zero which was canned on the Nintendo 64 and ported to the GameCube.

Neonridr119d ago

I still give it up to Factor 5 with Rogue Squadron 2 and 3. Those games look amazing still today. They squeezed a lot out of that box.

RE4 was no slouch either though.

Tacoboto119d ago

I think I'd give it to Metroid Prime and Echoes. 60fps with all those particle effects, and Samus' reflections.

The Remaster on Switch and Trilogy version on Wii are actually missing certain graphical effects.

The most influential game of all time. Along with the movie Aliens, it has shaped the industry.

Kassanova07118d ago

Bought a GameCube for Resident Evil. Everything else was just extra.
