The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is a big upgrade on PSVR 2

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is rightly lauded as one of the best virtual reality games out there, and now it's on PSVR2.

It looks to take advantage of all the raw power of the PS5 and the capabilities of the PSVR 2. So how has it done?

Bought both chapters and worth every penny for me psvr2 is the biggest thing ever. The usw of mic is very nice if you make noices the zombies will hear you.

I couldn’t play Saint and sinners on the first PSVR. It got me nauseated FAST. It was too dark, and wasn’t smooth. This? I played for a few hours at a time before I took breaks. Really is amazing and engaging. Grabbing a zombies head before you shove a sharp object in never gets old.

It was VERY dark on PSVR, wasn't it? Framerate was nowhere close to what they've hit with PSVR2 either and it looks gorgeous now. The Move controllers always made locomotion odd before too - now we've got market leading controllers, with haptics, finger tracking and adaptive triggers. Despite it's problems before, it was still one of the best games on OG PSVR and now it's MILES better on PSVR2 - credit to the devs on this one.

This is what Im
Most excited about currently.

Im just way too busy w RE8 and Hrz:COTM at the moment. But THIS is what I really want.

slayernz790d ago

loving it....only problem im a little stuck at the moment, ventured out and got stuck at night with a horde wandering around....now im stuck in a house, with a screw driver and a shiv and not much else and no way to get to the boat. any suggestions lol?

That sounds terrifying lol!!! Awesome, but terrifying!
You’re going to have to try to throw things and see if distractions work and metal gear your way out. If things go sideways you will have to do a LOT of shoving. I beat the hell out of a zombie with a metal elephant. Improvise lol!

If you've complete the objectives and you die, doesn't it just throw you back near the start of the level and give you the option to go back and get your stuff? You'd still keep any key items.
Also look for anything flammable, you can take out quite a few with an explosion. Or something like a noisey toy you can throw to attract them.

Try zombie guts to blend in?

philm87789d ago

Didn't even realise you could do that. Just looked up how to do it. That's awesome.

slayernz789d ago

Wow never knew this either, didn't even think about trying it (I've watched all seasons of twd too) away for the weekend but will have to give it a go when I'm back....thanks!!!

Gotta be so far into the story before the shirtless walkers start to come out though..fyi (those are the only ones you can take guts from, that I'm aware of)

Interested to learn of Sonys full body tracking and force feedback suit. Reminds me of ready player one.

As for the mention of Quest 3 and 3S. They're nice but why mention them as 2025 and beyond. We already had the Q3S last year and the superior Q3 earlier.

What we need is Half Life Alyx. How did Sony drop the ball on that?

ApocalypseShadow1d 17h ago

Sony doesn't own the game. It's Valve's game. Valve made the game to get users to use Steam. Just like they made Steam Boxes or the Steam Deck or the Index to get users onto their PC platform.

What Sony should have done was get Insomniac to make Spider-Man for VR. Or, TLofU. Or some big franchise they own converted to VR. Sony should have been more concerned on how to sell the headset besides GT7. The best games on PSVR aren't even compatible with PS VR 2. Another huge mistake. So, games like Astrobot, Wipeout or Blood and Truth are stuck on PS4.

They made a huge amount of money this Gen and did nothing for VR but sit back and watch indie developers. No effort means no buy. Which is surprising coming from Sony.

The last of Us would work perfect! Horror, looking around with a flashlight, and guns and bows work really well in VR. Sneaking up and grabbing the infected by the neck and choking them out, or throwing bricks and things to distract them sound good too. Not making one is a missed opportunity.

thesoftware7301d 8h ago

They did make a big franchise VR game.

Horizon VR game launched with the system.

Not making VR1 games work with VR2 is probably the biggest missed opportunity.

At least a few 3rd parties released patches for some games.

That's the whole list? VR is doomed. One of the biggest development is more multiplatform releases, which I don't even think is even true. The other one is standalone headsets? Which has been there since 2018 and went mainstream 5 years ago?

Babadook715h ago(Edited 15h ago)

I use it a lot. I’m guessing you haven't. It’s the future sorry dude.

IMO, there's two that are better than all these (except maybe Beat Saber), Thrill of the Fight and AUDICA.
