Although virtual reality gaming is certainly not new, it still feels like the platform is gaining its footing as it tries to establish itself as a worthy companion to traditional gaming. Resident Evil has made the transition easier for some, as it illustrates that the platform is not only capable of providing full-scale AAA experiences, but it is also able to greatly enhance them. Though the franchise still has a long way to go before it presents a perfect VR horror experience, it already seems to be miles ahead of many of its competitors.
Originally released on Steam back in 2021, Xlab Digital's tower defence game Iron Guard is available today for PSVR 2.
Zombie Army VR is creeping onto VR headsets later this month, and here's everything you need to know about Rebellion's latest.
Sony's PSVR 2 headset might convince me it's better than my Meta Quest 3.
Shoot to thrill.
It's a top notch experience with those amazing OLED panels, uncompressed clarity and the foveated rendering for improved performance for VR titles.
There's a reason that despite resident Evil 7 being available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbone and Series XS, 10% of players opted to for PSVR. On an install base of around 2m at launch. Let that sink in...
RE7 on PSVR was the reason I never played RE Village last year. I knew it would come to PSVR2 and didn't want to ruin my first play through by going flat beforehand. I'm sure glad I stayed strong, as it was worth the wait!
Next up, RE 4 Remake - once again, I won't play it now, even though I'm REALLY tempted. I'll wait for the PSVR2 enhanced version in a few months.
VR and horror in general go really well together.
RE8 to me was an 8/10 in a flat screen. But as a VR experience it became a 10/10. I Can't wait for RE4 to get the same treatment.
Psvr2 is amazing it make games so much better the presence of being in game world is so strong and satisfying. Games are very exciting and engaging. Im very addicted to psvr2 it doesnt need any gimmick points its the real deal. And its really good psvr2 games dont depend on triple A publishers and devs. Walking dead games are super class specially when you love the genre. Horizon coftm is nice but not the best game. Walking dead chapter 1&2 are brilliant, the zombies can even hear you from psvr2 mic and you can use it as an advance. Re8 village is superb good aswell and look awesome. Star wars is very entertaining.
Only thint the fresnel lens sweetspot is really small so need to learn to adjust the headband properly so you get clear picture. Its also very light to wear and 3d headset sit perfectly.
Now we only need web browser for vr porn!
Capcom you rock! I love both RE7 and RE8 In VR. I purchased RE4 at launch because I know it's coming for PSVR2, I think like many others here, I won't play it until the VR2 version is made available so I can play it for the first time in VR!
