It's looking gorgeous. I felt a bit burnt out on Horizon Zero Dawn after I platinumed it, so left The Frozen Wilds on the back burner for ages. Well, it was amazing and surprisingly big and lengthy - for me, it was the best part of the game! - so I'm hoping the same will be the case for Burning Shores!

crazyCoconuts561d ago

That was a good expansion. I agree you need time between games in the same franchise to really enjoy them because they're so big. I usually alternate open world and linear to keep from burning out

And some people still say gaming is not an artform....

but crazyCoconuts gets it.

RpgSama561d ago

Yep, as a completionist myself, somebody that tries as much as possible to platinum every game I play, I do feel specially burned out of Open World games by the end of them, the process is fun, you just do not want to do it again on a different game afterwards

I'm curious to see how much better looking this will be without being hampered by last gen. Here's two modern games made by the same team which should give us a good way to compare. I'm sure DF will spend time analyzing it

HICK561d ago

I'm wondering if it will be that much different until they update game engines with only PS5 in mind

Guess we will see more in the ‘heavily rumoured’ Showcase in May.

Horizon looks lovely on ps5 it’s got a lot of charm I’m sure they gone go hard with this release 🔥🔥🔥 other devs need to pay attention on how to polish a series *looks at Ubisoft lol

Shane Kim561d ago

It's the best looking game so far in my opinion.

Aloymetal561d ago

It's not just your opinion, it's a fact!;)
And to think it's a cross gen game, that's whyI can't wait what Guerrilla does now with this dlc only on PS5.

IamFrasierCrane561d ago

I bought it over the holiday and was amazed at how good it looks and plays! I’m honestly surprised the graphics aren’t talked about more often.

Horizon FW and GoW Ragnarok both sit among the top of the list of games with the best graphics right now

I love the Decima engine more than Unreal Engine

purple101561d ago

Of course. It built for playstation.

+ So so many games use unreal they can feel a bit 'samey' in terms of physics and graphics. Obv not script/ story line wise. But you get the point.

Best DLC/Expansion of 2023

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "Whether in the form of free DLC (hello God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla) or long-awaited semi-sequels, expansions have blossomed into their own thing across every genre. A commercial & creative necessity for MMOs way back when is now a commonality everywhere. And there's great incentive behind it too; generally speaking, who wouldn't want to have the gameplay skeleton of their favorite titles utilized to explore new storylines and locations? In 2023, this comes with a cost for last-gen-only gamers in the form of Horizon Forbidden West and Cyberpunk 2077. Despite both titles having 8th-gen versions at their respective launches, Guerrilla Games and CD Projekt RED decided to forego the technologically-constraining PS4 and/or Xbox One consoles to fully realize their creative visions.

While that doesn't tell the full story of these four finalists, it's an intriguing factoid that marks 2023 as a turning point in cementing future titles or DLCs for only this current generation... and maybe Switch."

Good year for DLC. I’m at the last boss in Burning Shores and just wrapped the tower party subterfuge in Phantom Liberty. Chef’s kiss.

coolbeans254d ago

Needless to say you're eating good atm.

P_Bomb254d ago

Can’t complain, that’s for sure lol!

God of War Ragnarock vs. Horizon Burning Shores

Ironmike254d ago

Both great dlc but for me phantom liberty takes it

Futureshark254d ago

Even though it was a remake, Separate Ways was a great slice of DLC for me.
The RE4VR update also phenomenal.

I'm not going to lie. After a few dozen car chases I just set it to automatic. Same with QTE's. Between Amazing 1 & 2 plus Marvels 1, Miles & now 2. I'm over those segments.

Would be nice to have games implement an "epilepsy guard" setting for gamers with epilepsy.
