And, Kushwood, yes, even though a lot of people support sports teams there is a sense of literal community from that. Usually people support the team hailing from the same place as they were born. You weren’t born in Nintendo headquarters or PlayStations or Microsoft’s or Apple’s. They’re buildings of people solely out to get your money for lacklustre service and nothing more.

Think of the hold times in each of their terrible customer service lines. Think how bad Microsoft have jumped on the live service train, think about how bad Nintendo are for refunds, think of how hard it is to get a refund from Sony in the event you download something you didn’t intend on downloading. They’re all cold businesses.

Think of how all of their games are now $70 for absolutely no reason but the fact that these companies wanted to charge people more money for the sake of it.

Without the supply problems and with a slim ps5, we'll I think that 60 millions is very low target. Don't think to talk about great games, because Sony always got them.

It won't be a lack of content that hurts the current gen consoles but if prices on the consoles themselves don't drop significantly over time and the troubling economic times we're headed for.

With the cost of living going up and interest rates increasing people don't have the disposable income they once had which means less console and software sales which means less economies of scale and less ability to lower prices.

I don’t get the hate for kingnick’s comment. To put it simply due to inflation and other economic pressures consumer purchasing power is on the decline and this is likely result in less sales. It doesn’t mean Sony won’t hit 60 million. I think they will. However, there is a high probability that that looming economic conditions will have some negative impact on sales of all non-essential consumer goods. Not just consoles.

In Japan (where I live) it really feels like the system just launched. It is finally available and games Japanese people want to play are almost here. Too bad about inflation and the exchange rate forcing a price increase (same with PSVR2)

Hardware in Japan is getting more expensive and it will be interesting to see how it affects sales (the Quest 2 is 40% more expensive than last year).

Not just Japan, around the globe companies in many fields are trying to increase prices and keep prices higher for longer before discounting. It's possible monthly PS5 sales will decrease once users who waited years to buy a PS5 but were unable to buy one are finally able to buy a console.

If the economy gets worse and countries go into recession we could see console sales not accelerate as in the past. I guess we'll see just how recession proof or not gaming is.

I think all three still appreciate creative but Microsoft are the worst at it by a longshot but there are some bright spots like Hi-Fi Rush.

The AAA space is very risk averse given the size of budgets involved which is why indie games tend to be more creative and often more interesting.

And Hi-fi rush was in development how long before MS acquired them? MS didn’t take a risk on that game, Bethesda did. Let us know when Xbox takes an actual big risk with an in-house big IP and stick the landing. I’ve had my eyes peeled for a years for a single strike of greatness coming out of Xbox besides Forza. Where’s fable, Gears, Perfect Dark or anything original? Halo bombed already…It’s been pretty sad watching the richest player on the board squirming with no huge 1st party titles for this long. And I’m hedging that time will tell that buying everything in sight won’t fix poor management issues…

Yeah, that's great for Sony and Ps5 is my favourite ..now start showing what Ps5 can do and stop with cross gen games and start releasing Ps5 exclusive games
Because i feel a little disappointed that after 2 years since Ps5 release i still feel like i am trapped in PS4 gen
And same can be said about Xbox but much much worse as it offer no games that even grap my attention
