The Finals Has a "Very Stable & Healthy" Playerbase; "Strictly Hardware" on Why No XB1 Version

The Finals player base got a boost thanks to the PS4 version, though Embark has no plans for an Xbox One version saying it's due to ".strictly hardware."

Yeah honestly this makes no sense...PS4 and Xbox One are basically the same

It makes a lot of sense. 100+ million PS4’s sold and many people still use it. How many people still use XB1? Not many

Fair point. I've never owned an Xbox, but based on its history, i feel like any game with a first person camera angle and a gun should automatically do well on their platform

If I had to venture a guess... more people still use the XBO than there are Series users. Mainly because even XBO users can play the newer games like Indiana Jones and Starfield via xcloud. Its actually quite impressive to play these newer games not intended for that gen of hardware, but obviously because they are streaming via GPU instead of playing local. MS has made this big todo about not having to buy their next gen hardware and instead anything can be an xbox... even a previous xbox.

Hell... just for kicks I streamed some flight sim on the original 2013 VCR XBO and it played just fine. Makes me want to try and use a 360 or PS3, anything with a web browser can likely be used for xcloud streaming.

They are not the same, so it makes sense.

Not exactly on Xbox one you have to cater for the lowest common denominator and that's the 2013 VCR model which actually has a slightly worse CPU than the s revision that came later.

It's arguably the weakest console of that generation and there was a few architecture choices that really held the base Xbox back including dedicating large amounts of ram to the systems os vs how streamlined the PS4 was setup with shared memory and the Xbox using a 32mb esram that complicated development and the biggest elephant in the room the PS4 features a flat out better GPU than the Xbox one.

It's why most performance comparisons would show a higher resolution and more consistent performance on PS4 than X one the only exception being when the Devs targeted a lower resolution and gained more consistent fps on the xone.

Launch titles show this quite strongly with most games being 1080p on PS4 while they were 900p on xone the divide only worsened as the generation went on.

oh damn, i didnt know they made a ps4 version.

maybe they outweighed the effort vs the amount of xbox players in general.

thats generally why these things dont happen

well ... seems like there might be Switch 2 version as well
better do that before Marathon

S2Killinit2d ago

Gotta play it before Marathon comes out
