Atomic Heart Entertains But Does Not Fully Reach It's Potential - Skewed 'n Reviewed

Skewed and Reviewed have posted a mixed review for the game. While they liked some aspects of the game they found others dated and tedious.

Sonic1881831d ago (Edited 831d ago )

More like a 5 out of 10 😂

Garethvk831d ago

Have you played it since launch and subsequent patches?

Inverno831d ago

Sonic has been in practically every article expressing his loathe.

jambola831d ago

Hahaha
That would make it average
That's.... pretty funny

Eonjay831d ago

They aren't AAA after all but if it comes to VR I may give it a go.

AshleeEmerson831d ago

Exactly how I feel. If it comes to VR I'll buy it, other than that, looks like an okay game that is inspired by BioShock, which is an amazing influence.

porkChop831d ago

Considering it's a new studio and this is their first big game, I'd say it's pretty damn impressive. They've taken inspiration from some really great games but Atomic Heart is still full of fresh and unique ideas. They didn't just play it safe and copy every other game. They've even gone old school in terms of health, difficulty, saving, etc. I feel like they're getting a lot more flak than they deserve.

Garethvk831d ago

Game just has issues and the last patch made some worse.

porkChop831d ago

I agree. I'm not saying the game is perfect. I just think it's one of the most unique and weird (in a good way) games that I've played in quite a while. It's frustrating to see so many other journos shit on the game but then give a free pass to sequels that do nothing new or different.

Garethvk831d ago

I think I was fair 3/5 is not a bad review.

porkChop831d ago

Just for clarity I'm not saying your review isn't fair. I'm more talking about the overall response from reviewers.

AshleeEmerson831d ago

When I first seen this, I loved how silky smooth it was but there was just something about it that wasn't resonating. I know that I feel it wanted to be a BioShock/Doom speed type game but I could tell that it was trying to do too much and it wouldn't find its foundation.

I'm glad they did attempt it because it's a cool idea with a lot of moving parts but obviously they were cheaply made parts.

This is just my impression, I have not played the game but a lot of developers are trying a lot of cool things hoping they will stick.

They should know for sure what gamers will it wouldn't like at this point considering how long video games have been made.

I applaud there ambition and quirkiness in design. We need that level of new ideas but execution means everything.

HyperMoused831d ago

Finally got this game, and its pretty good i dont get the hate for it at all, looks great plays great, story is good so far, granny with an AK box is ticked, still early days but im happy with what ive seen so far

Garethvk831d ago

It gets old fast combat wise and his voice does not fit but it is a nice diversion.

BlindMango831d ago

Always found it strange that writers, reviewers, etc don't know the difference between "its" and "it's"

jambola831d ago

I always found it strange that people are that obsessed with minor grammar mistakes

Garethvk831d ago

Especially when Grammerlyband Spell Check both clear it as fine.

BlindMango829d ago

It reads as "but does not fully reach it is potential" since an apostrophe was used, so when that happens "its" without an apostrophe should be used.

10 million players for Atomic Heart, nice!

Does this mean we might see an Atomic Heart 2? Crispy Critters!

NovoSlev16d ago

They're launching a new publishing label, Mundfish Powerhouse, but I wouldn't be shocked if they'll be using that to self-publish Atomic Heart 2 - hopefully!

Lightning7715d ago

It's on GP. 10 million players and a made another studio? So Did Gamepass help or contribute in making another studio for them? I know its on other platforms which also helped their new venture.

Boy_the_CowRoy14d ago

10 million? Hard to believe for a game with only 400 people playing this game currently and a all time peak of only 37k on PC. Is the difference in popularity of this game on console and PC really that big?

MrDead14d ago

Well done Mundfish, I had a fun time with this game... apart from the 2nd dlc. Great world building, a solid storyline and Bioshock style gameplay. Looking forward to what comes next.

DivineHand12512d ago

I started playing the game on Gamepass a while back. I stopped because it wasn't my cup of tea.

I am glad they were able to build a fan base for this game.
