I remember this case it got thrown out. Guess it's back probably gonna fail or not be that big of a win for the complainers.

porkChop532d ago

It was temporarily dismissed because they didn't have enough of a case to reasonably argue Sony was illegally doing it solely for profit. They came back with a stronger case and so the lawsuit is able to move forward.

I personally agree with the plantiffs. As much as I like Sony they have a point.

You can still buy wallet top-up cards ? I got two the other day from Aldi and bought Chernobylite and Witcher remake. Even my corner street convenience store sells them.
Maybe I'm misreading things though

DaCajun532d ago (Edited 532d ago )

Yes, you're misreading it.

They are not talking about PSN gift cards.

They are talking about how we used to be able to buy digital game codes from 3rd party sellers like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, etc. at cheaper prices and more frequently on sale. Now we can only buy digital games to play on our PS4/PS5 from Sony exclusively. That policy changed after the PS4 came out. I still just wait for sales anyway.

Extermin8or3_532d ago

They were rarely cheaper, actually if you look you'll see the psn store has more frequent discounts and sales and of a wider number of games than retailers ever had for those cards. The retailers get almost nothing if not nothing for selling those cards it all goes to Sony o actually there is no profitability. Just as if I sell a psn top up card at work all of that money goes to Sony. Places stock them in hope customers come in and abut one and also end up buying other stuff or buy a console.

Cheers thought I was wrong on something lol

FinalFantasyFanatic532d ago

I'm sure even the Supermarkets even sell them, they sell Steam ones too and I thought Steam stopped selling them in Australia.

ChasterMies532d ago

This is an uphill battle for plaintiffs. They are basically asking a court to force a retailer to offer gift cards for their store. Would the court manage the point of sale activation system? Press X to doubt.
