Hogwarts Legacy Review | TheSixthAxis

The sights and sounds alone make Hogwarts Legacy the dream Harry Potter game fans have been longing for. There’s an intriguing mystery to unravel, though you’re bound to spend most of your time exploring a wealth of side content, visiting virtual landmarks and roleplaying as a Hogwarts student. That said, it’s more successful in being a sandbox teeming with nostalgia rather than a stand-out action RPG in its own right, let down by gameplay foibles and spellcasting combat that quickly slides into repetition.

@hank It’s a multiplat of a well known franchise . If it didn’t sell better than a new unknown IP it would be very bad .

“ Over the past several years we’ve had a trilogy of lacklustre new movies and a fan base that’s been splintered by the harmful rhetoric of Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling. Despite efforts to distance themselves from this controversy, and to make Hogwarts Legacy the most inclusive entry in this billion dollar franchise, developer Avalanche Software is fighting an uphill battle in that regard. Even without this pressure, and the justifiable reasons to avoid Hogwarts Legacy, they’ve had to carry the weighty burden of fan expectations, with the hype train finally arriving at Hogsmeade Station all these years later.”

So the site that is most upset about jk rowling also gives out the lowest score. I'm sure it's just a coincidence right? I know I will never trust info from tsa again. They obviously lack the ability to be objective. What is next, every individual involved in making the games must sign a pledge verifying they have the correct opinions?

I think this goes for most outlets to be honest. It’s pretty sad. Its crazy people pay attention to these scores in the first place. Game looks good to me, I buy it.

I do the same thing. Everyone has opinions and tastes but they don’t know my taste so I don’t use anyones scores as a way to judge if I want to play a game. I would have missed out on a lot of great games if I only followed reviews .

First MeatyUrologist is correct to point out mentioning JKR makes this review lose credibility. That said I disagree with your idea the notion that its crazy for people to pay attention. In fact I think a lot of gamers just have the wrong approach to reviews in general. They're NOT suppose to be the end all & be all of what anyone choses to play or purchase. They are simply to give the consumer an idea about what the REVIEWER liked & disliked about the game. When *used *correctly like following a few reviewers that you genuinely agree with & building a personal track record about whether their opinion generally aligns with yours and thus those reviews carry more weight with you individually. In todays hobby with games costing $70 consumers looking at reviews they trust, plus watching multiple streams, etc its actually a pretty good thing when someone can avoid spending their hard earn money on a game but then end up regret buying. Disregard reviews if you clearly see they are biased but overall they have their place & I know theyve saved me alot of money over 25+ yrs gaming.

I loved Ryse, still do BUT objectively I can understand the complaints from reviews, consumers know themselves & what they want to play and lets be honest for every clickbait or terrible opinion for the most part overall reviews on 95% of games over the last decade are objectively speaking pretty much accurate. Very, very few times do we look back & say collectively wow *most of the reviews for game X were totally wrong. I actually cant think of 1 at the moment.

Despite what anyone thinks of JK Rowling, the game looks fine to me.
