The Legend of Dragoon Deserves the Sony Remake Treatment

The Legend of Dragoon was an underappreciated masterpiece in its time and should return through Sony's first-party remake treatment.

As much as I’d love and want a remake to my favorite RPGs, I don’t want to play all my favorite rpgs as button mashing hack n’ slashes with menus. I’ll pass unless they actually keep it turned based. Turn based can be done right and awesome. Look at rpgs like legend of legaia, or lost odyssey.

Although I wish these devs/publishers would stop treating turn-based as archaic design and instead treat it like a sub-genre.

I was bummed when I saw Dragon Quest was starting to go the action route with Treasures…

If that was the only way they would make it happen I’d say ok as it done well but I would be much happier keeping at least some of these turn based games turn based .

So tweak the combat but everything else exactly NOT like they did with the FFVII Remake.

I remember after GoW 2018 came out that Cory Barlog said remaking TLoD would be his dream project. He didn't seem optimistic about Sony letting him do it though.

It could work a lot like FF7R - a hybrid of both real-time and turn-based combat. The combo-stringing with timed button presses would be interesting to see with a more modern approach.
