Xbox and Bethesda's recent Developer Direct got straight to the point, and other video game presentations should adopt a similar hostless structure.

Ummmm, what? Sony and Nintendo have been doing this for years. We just gonna act like Nintendo Direct and State of Play dont exist?

Nintendo Directs have a host. SoP usually doesn't, and they do mention that in the article. Aside from the headline I believe what they're saying is that other gaming publishers should follow Sony and MS in doing their own hostless shows. Clearly the format works.

What they should have said is:

"Why there should be more hostless videogame presentations like Sony's State of Play." That's led by developers showing their product.

Instead, it leads with the narrative for most of the article that Microsoft is a company that is the leader in this format. No. They are are the follower of what Sony's done. Then mentioned later in the article that Sony has been doing it for years. Obviously, FIRST in it.

They can't BOTH be f FIRST at it.

Agreed. The article doesn't make any mention that Sony does this with SoP until literally the end. It doesn't make much sense to structure it like that. It almost comes across like the writer forgot about SoP and slapped it onto the end rather than rewriting the article.

Lol. Nice try.

Xbox and Bethesda's Developer Direct has nothing to do with State of Play, which is nothing but a video game trailer reel for all upcoming Playstation games, be that thrid, second or first party. And yes, it does have a (faceless) hostess since day one.

XBDD was straight to the point and "directed" by Xbox Studios developers themselves providing gamers a more close look and deep dive for their upcoming games (5 in total). Only first party games was shown. Not to mention the epic surprise that was Hi-Fi Rush.

No State of Play has come close to XBDD when comes to quality and format.

State of Play is nothing but shallow copy of Nintendo´s Direct which till this day, doesn´t have one single memorable presentation.

And yes, unlike Sony, Xbox is not running away from big shows and events as they already confirmed a big event in June open to public. While Sony is nothing but a blank page, right now.

There´s nothing to compare here.

I remember when Nintendo did their first "Nintendo direct" and the internets where laughing and saying the usual stuff. And look at where we are now.
