Jade King writes "whoever wrote this character and their place in this narrative neither understood women nor knew how to make them matter alongside a larger cast".
This is what happens when you don't have any real problems in your life.
This is what happens when you let TheGamer / GameRant / Screenrant / CBR family flood N4G with deliberately trollsome social education articles.
Jeezus, lighten up!
So glad this got approved here. I'm in the middle of checking out P4 out of boredom and now i'm definitely checking out P3 as well. Thank you Jade. 💗
Thought y'all checked this game out years ago?
If you're interested, a terrible but similar review of P4G appears on Eurogamer, seemingly skirting how great the game is to instead stand on a soapbox and educate us all.
I notice they turned the comments off for that one.
So pink color for female character is enough to make an author write a 1000+ words article? Yikes.
And out of curiosity, i've googled who was responsible for P3P and it was a female, Azusa Kido. She was a producer and writer for FeMC (she even wrote some of Junpei "sexist" dialogue, if i understood correctly). You can search for «Persona 3 Portable official fanbook: Creators Interview» and read for yourself, there's a lot of cool little details.
And isn't Junpei sexism was called out multiple times in a game, even with consequences? Author didn't mention that, not sure why.
P. S.: Not a fan of how author tries to act commanding/authoritative without having an ounce of respect for people with different opinion, who might enjoy pink color, aesthetics or characters/dialogue. Especially if the author begs for inclusivity in it's own article. And act like he/she knows every women struggles and/or opinions.
Understood women? What is a woman exactly? Please do tell.
hmm imo you gotta be kinda twisted to have the need of looking all the way to 2006 to something that absolutely nobody had an issue with and make today that a supposed issue.
They've been re-released on modern consoles this week as well, just FYI. Not that I agree with the article. Just why it's relevant at all.
Look at all the old stuff that people like the author suddenly have issue with now (baby it's cold outside, lol), I think these people just go out of their way to be offended, or their trying to score brownie points. Fortunately for us, media like this is good irrelevant of what they say or claim.
"whoever wrote this article and their place in this narrative neither understands women nor do they know how to make them matter alongside a larger cast"
Daily reminder that TheGamer is an anti-gamer, clickbait web site. They provide nothing positive and actively try to divide the community through extreme politics. Do not give them any clicks
Always trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. Jesus christ...
This considered gaming journalism? Yikes...
Now getting upset over colors in a 20 year old game? Don’t play it . I will again just not this version .
How dare she call Junpei Iori a perverted weirdo who only wants to get his rocks off. He's wearing a goddamn hat.
funny how JKing wrote about understanding women.
the irony of it all.
FemMC is written perfectly.
When you start by criticizing that choosing the female character makes the screen pink that's how you know how empty someone's life is
oh fck off
Hrm... I had no interest in this game before. Now it just makes me want to buy a copy for every system I own.
