How to preorder Sony's PSVR 2 before scalpers get them all

Sony's preorder routine is slightly different this time around. Due limited quantities and high demand, they’re limiting orders to one PS VR2 per PSN ID per household.

Previously, Sony required folks to register on its site for an invite. Thankfully, that’s now changed, but the process depends on the country.

You can only scalp things if it's sold out / in demand. Otherwise, why would you not just buy from Sony directly?

Yeah, but I like to think after what happened with PS5, people are so pissed with scalpers, they'll sit it out and wait if they can't get one at retail. The only way scalpers will stop ruining things for honest folk, is if it hits them in the pocket because people don't bow to them.

We've got one month left before launch. Anyone wanting a PSVR2 day one that has the facility to get one right now should do so. If you wait until day one and hope to pick one up in the local store, you'll probably be out of luck and might end up missing out for months.

PSVR2 is not going to have the high sustained sales the PS5 did and we're no longer in a shortage. Any scalping going on will not last more than a month.

i dont think there will be any problem getting one, therefore no need for scalpers, or no opportunity for them, as theres one thing sony can pump out, or two actually; and that's high end plasticky gizmos and accessories, and high quality glass lenses for cameras etc,, they are the market leaders by a mile in lens production, also in a collective with toshiba and hitachi called the 'japan display collective' and they make sure japan can keep producing displays in a competitive way with raw material supply's etc. so japan can be competitive against china/korea.

they also partnered with philips to invent the CD compact disk
philips again to create S/PDIF for audio cables, (sony Philips digital interface) which is used in recording studios when burning master cd for reproduction.

also changed the world by giving skateboarders the first commercially available hand held battery powered handycams, to skateboarders in the 80's. it was called the sony VX-1000
(THERE ACTUALLY AVAILABLE ON EBAY FOR ABOUT $650. and will remembered as a piece of history forever, This one product alone kickstarted the 'home-video' revolution. before this camcorders were $20000 roughly. and had a power supply.

For one, they've been on Preorder for a few weeks now. They didn't just sell out within minutes like the PS5 did. 2nd, I don't see people paying enough above retail to make it even worth it. If a scalper sells one on Ebay, they'd have to sell it for at least $700 to even make a profit.

I do agree, but thanks to going into production so late in the day (in order to ensure cutting edge specs and finalise the eye tracking details with Tobii), they have a limited supply at launch. This happened with PSVR at launch too and the scalpers were all over that. On ebay, as usual lol

I'm not sure how quickly the will get the next batch of headsets to retail after the initial batch is gone. I don't think it's likely they will be manufacturing immediately after the first batch is shipped, because they'll want to get a better understanding of demand first.

This just isn't true though... demand is not outstripping supply - you can order it direct from Sony right now without any effort.

^ Yes it is true. Sony themselves have said the first batch is limited to 2 million units. They will gauge demand and use that data to define the size and frequency of future batches.

Of course you can order it from Sony - what a foolish thing to say! Why would you not be able to order their new product directly from them in advance of launch? They did the same thing with PS5 lol

To date, they haven't sold through that 2m though. So supply is outstripping demand.

They didn't really though. I got a PS5 from Direct @ launch, it was a race to get through the checkout and they had very few units. It was regularly sold out on PS Direct. PSVR2 has no queue or invites, and is readily available to buy at any time. Not the same situation at all.
