Games Asylum: "This first-person psychological horror sounds far more meaningful than its peers. Conceptually, at least. It’s intended to highlight the horrors of war, with a special focus on life within WWI trenches. Being trapped in No Man’s Land while in cramped and unsanitary conditions is definitely one of the more harrowing settings imaginable. And while the subject has been touched on in the past, such as in the excellent 11-11 Memories Retold, it isn’t something we’ve seen a whole game dedicated to."
Not a typical World War I experience.
VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "While I try to give due obeisance to any solo developer juggling so many disparate tasks, I still have to consider the inherent value of the work itself. That’s where I find Trenches incredibly lacking. From presentation to design, any neat little feature feels buried by everything else. Eventually, the rapid-fire approach to scares suggests it's a means of keeping you awake instead of building quality tension. I can appreciate strapping popular indie horror game templates to The Great War, but when my overriding thoughts vary from boredom to unintentional laughter then appreciation can only go so far."

War.. huh, what is it good for?
Well, it seems video games is a pretty accurate answer, as we’ve been thrown into warzones from World Wars to intergalactic wars, but Trenches throws up something different as you’re stuck in the Trenches of the first world war, rather than fighting the common enemies, you’re battling your own sanity in the pouring rain.
