Krafton has reportedly had to lower its target stock prices, pointing to The Callisto Protocol's poor sales performance as the reason why.
From Horse Armor to Mass Layoffs: The Price of Greed in Gaming. Inside the decades-long war on game workers and the players who defend them.
maybe a real enemy is people who use terms like "the real enemy"
there can be more than 1 bad thing, t's not like a kids show with 1 big bad
Executives seem to often have an obsession with perpetual revenue growth. There is always a finite amount of consumers for a product regardless of growth. Additionally, over investment is another serious issue in gaming.
honestly, the "real" enemy of gaming, is ourselves
if nobody bought horse armor, shitty dlc would have died almost overnight
if we stood firm and nobody bought games from companies that were bad with layoffs, it would be solved
we're the idiots supporting awful business practices, we are the ones enouraging it
Greed and greedy people have and always will be the main issue for everything wrong in the world. Everything is a product to be exploited for monetary gain. Even when there are things that could help progress us along for the sake of making our lives easier that thing must be exploited for monetary gains. Anything that tells you otherwise is propaganda to make you complicit.
I've never thought "DEI" (although the way most people use it doesn't match it's real definition) is the problem with games. Good games have continued to be good when they have a diverse cast, and likewise, bad games have continued to be bad. There isn't a credible example I've seen where a diverse cast has been the direct cause of a game being bad.
Play as Polly, a silent girl on the run from her dark past in this neon-soaked psychological horror shooter.
In Ratatan, groove-loving adventurers use the power of song and magical instruments to command armies of loyal Cobun companions.
That kinda sucks.. I miss big budget horror games and we are just getting back on track to having those again… Hopefully dead space preforms well and doesn’t scare off other publishers…
I know it wasn’t the best horror game but I enjoyed it and thought it would sell in the 4 to 5 million range. Good game just needed a little more time in the oven. Plays a lot better at this moment .
Totally unrealistic expectation, that were gonna sell 4-5 million right away or even get close.
It's a new ip from a new studio, that was wishful thinking on there part.
Even established ips would struggle to move 5 mill in a month, and these guys thought they could do it with a horror game.
Good games gonna sell, bad games won't.
Unfinished, 6-7h game with one boss fight and terrible performance for $70.
Guess people read reviews huh?
The games had a lot of hype around it but didn't record well and scared a lot of people off mostly because of performance issues especially on PC and Xbox platforms I really think they should have delayed it. I have a feeling it was rushed out to beat the dead space remake.
But realistically a game only gets one shot at a release day and if it comes out like this you can bet it will impact sales publisher should have held back.
New IP rarely sells well especially from new studios . Like the Witcher 1&2 it took until the 3rd game for them to figure out the formula and to have enough money to make a high end polished game. Its unfortunate they overestimated things but they have a good foundation for the future if they can make it through this .
