Fallout 76: A look back at 2022

Fallout 76 has grown significantly over the past year, with players worldwide experiencing all sort of happenings across Appalachia from travelling roadshows to extraterrestrial invasions! As the year ends, we wanted to reflect on those memorable events, updates and improvements that came to Fallout 76 in 2022. Fallout 76 has reached a total of 13.5 million players, deployed 2.9 million nukes and had over 5 million expedition missions completed.

No gamers got the game because it’s fun. Believe it or not the internets opinion isn’t a fact just because people call it glitchy and broken on the internet doesn’t mean it’s like that for most people. No one is forcing them to play it it’s actually a great game. The fallout series is an amazing series.

It’s like halo infinite being called a disaster but go online and it has a big thriving community that love the game. Most people who bash something haven’t even tried it or only go based on what other people on the internet say.

The games alright at most. Would've been way way better as a single player imo. I dabble in it every once in awhile but play a few hours before it starts to come back to me on why i dont like it.

Halo is a disaster it just has a dedicated fan base.

The game was a flop. Fallout 4 sold 12 million copies in 24 hours. Fallout 76 sold a million copies in a week. It wasn't even close to meeting its sales expectations.

The 13.5 million isn't sales, it's players - the game is on both PS Plus and Gamepass.

Defending this game against valid criticism given the horrendous state in launched in is just weird.

Sea of Thieves, Destiny, No Mans Sky, Fallout 76, The Avengers, Cyberpunk

Improve it a little and obviously it's going to be "so much better" as it wasn't amazing to start with and it then justifies the praise and defence.

It's like cool you like it but don't try and make out it's something it's not when we were all there at launch,

Well, there was a lot that went wrong with this game from the very beginning.

The canvas bag BS. The launch state. The type of content available for the first year. The Gaas-ing of a single player IP.

These player counts are good in isolation but they fall far behind Skyrim and FO4, and at launch their handling of the stupid canvas bag drama alone highlighted just how little they cared about who they were making this for.

Just like with 343 and Halo Infinite, Fallout is a beloved IP and there shouldn't need to be a comeback story. But not only is there a comeback story, there is a treat-the-gamer-like-they-dont -matter story that it follows.

The devs are just getting a pay check. I seriously doubt this is a passion project for most of them. There is nothing noble nor should any of this be celebrated. The devs and the publisher purposely put out an unfinished game to snake money form your digital wallet. Now they want more money from their revenue source, so the game gets the "comeback" title.

I gave it a shot and have.been playing it a ton lately on ps5 PSPlus. It's actually a lot of fun. They have added NPCs and settlements and quests and items and....theist goes on. The items and blueprints you find to build your home base and furnish it is really drawing me in. If you actually go into this game without bias it can be extremely entertaining.

That's the question their marketing doesn't want you to ask. I mean Fallout 4 had 14 mio. alone in sales on launch day! Fallout 4 is still in the Top100 currently played games (Fallout 76 rarely makes it there).

So in case of Fallout 76, you played it two years ago once, you are counted as player. Player statistics are worthless in that regard, especially when it was free a couple of times and is on GP.

I don't say it's a dead game, it's definitely not. I guess it's still viable enough to run and MS prefers GaaS games for GP, so it makes sense to keep it alive for a long time. But as of now the Fallout series ends with Fallout 76 and I wish it was not.

I love the game personally. Its vastly improved over the launch version. I personally never cared for the story in any Fallout game so it was never the reason I played them. I liked the exploration in those games and this game has a massive world with lots of variety.

The game is still not worth it. I have nearly 300 hours on it and I can say definitively that it is still trash. There are still bugs present from release. Cut the losses and make a new Fallout

Logic #1: I like the world in a trash ass, not fun game with tons of bugs...but you know what, let me spend a ridiculous amount of time playing it.

Logic #2: I like the game because, it jas a cool universe, and the gameplay is fun enough, even though it has some bugs it didn't stop me from playing....but since MS now owns Bethesda...its a Trash game and I didn't enjoy any of my 300hrs I spent playing it, I could have used that time playing Stray.
