PS5 Sales Top 28M, XS Tops 20M - Worldwide Hardware Estimates for Nov 27-Dec 3

The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console with 932,599 units sold for the week ending December 3, 2022, according to VGChartz estimates. The Switch has now sold an estimated 118.20 million units lifetime.

The PlayStation 5 sold an estimated 698,791 units to bring its lifetime sales to 28.26 million units. The Xbox Series X|S sold 591,167 units to bring their lifetime sales to 20.26 million units.

By the end of the year, Switch should be around 120m, PS5 near 30m and Series around 21m

In two years the PS5 should be at 45-50 million and Xbox series S/X should be at 30-35 million

I'ma say 33 million for PS5. They seem dead set on 37 million by end of fiscal 22. So a conservative guess would be 33.5 million.

Switch and PlayStation numbers are guesses and Xbox numbers are complete fan fiction. They are not 'estimates' because you can infer trends from actual results and make valid predictions which is something that they refuse to do.

Yup. And analysts are putting the gap (ps5 vs xs) at much greater than VGChartz. The same thing happened last gen too.

So they’re equally as accurate or inaccurate.

Retailers were the source for vgchartz last gen. Years later they changed the numbers admitting that xb1 was never selling as well as they claimed.

@Orchard they are off for both Sony and Nintendo but they are at least adjusted based on actual numbers from both companies. Microsoft doesn't give out numbers hasn't done so for years so vchartz numbers for xbox are just estimates of estimates, they're complete fiction.

12 days ago some people thought the Xbox had turned a corner. It was pointed out that the great sales numbers where probably down to the Series S being stupidly cheap and casuals probably jumping on board.

These estimates show that was most likely a correct theory.

To go from estimated 1.2m to estimated less than 600k is really big drop.

you are trying too hard. That thread was for black Friday where all three were above 1m for the week. All three have taken a dip but still more than their average weekly sales throughout the year. PS5 averages 300k, XB averages 200-250k and Switch averages 400k

@Mr_Writer Which is to be expected. PS has always had a higher global brand appeal / sales numbers.

But both of them exhibited a sharp drop off after Black Friday - which is also to be expected and happens every year. Both were > 1m during BF. I expected higher numbers from PS5 though now that it is easily found / readily available to buy.

Both are still massively up from where they have been in the past months though.
The Switch continues to completely destroy both of them though.

Oh, so he means pounds and in the UK... well that's a different story. That is still about $250.

But also not surprising - Europe and the UK are heavily PlayStation areas. And demand varies by region - heck, you can even find PS5's on discount in some regions (not here in the States though).

@orchard, it's amazing you can't accept that the series is was being sold at 200 or under 200... For weeks... And try some damage control and say you could find a ps5 cheaper... Just ridiculous. No, dude the ps5 price increase, like everyone knows, and there are selling them with bundles at 750... I saw it in commercial, because I still haven't seen one in a shop. While, here, at fnac, big shop, you can see a pile of s. Some with fake marketing that saying it got 3 games, but those games are free to play... But Zero X.

A product with high demand doesn't cut 100 from the price of something that already was cheap.

The US seems to be a more balanced way of looking at how the consoles are performing now that stock is readily available for all of them.

Easy to find a PS5 here in the US, just go on PS Direct.

And yes, it’s discounted in some regions of NA (e.g. Mexico).

Everybody thought I was crazy when I said the switch was going to sell like gangbusters before it arrived.

For all Nintendo lack of graphical power them Boyz &gals over at Nintendo still know how to make and sell good hardware and software.im proud of them, Sony wouldn't (I repeat) would not be the power house in gaming if it wasn't for Nintendo periods.

Sony learned all their tricks including talent acquisition to game design.

This is the house that Nintendo built.

Switch has console and handheld. Nintendo discontinued 3ds far as I know so anything new handheld wise has to go through switch. It makes sense. Nintendo has the only handheld and there's a huge handheld market always has been.
