Exclusive: The First Armored Core 6 Details With Hidetaka Miyazaki and Masaru Yamamura

From IGN: "It’s easy to forget that FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki got his start working not on Dark Souls or Demon’s Souls, but Armored Core – the dense and gritty multiplayer mech series that defined the studio’s identity for almost a decade. Having decided to pursue a career as a game designer after playing Ico, Miyazaki’s first project was Armored Core: Last Raven, which was released in the heyday of the PS2 in 2004.

Looking back on Armored Core 4, which marked his directorial debut, Miyazaki muses in an exclusive new interview with IGN, “[It] was a time when I had to learn a lot in regard to both the technical aspect and the design aspect of game development. So you could really call it my starting point for game development.”

Since then, FromSoftware has established itself as the Soulsborne studio, reeling off hits like Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It reached its apex with Elden Ring, which was released to rave reviews and went on to sell 17.5 million units. So how do you follow what is generally regarded as the best game of 2022…and possibly one of the best games of all time? For Miyazaki, it’s by rewinding the clock."

- Third person action game more focused on single player than previous games, retains mission-based w/ heavy focus on customized mecha
- Boss battles are the highlight
- Will not be soulsbourne gameplay
- Versus/MP mode planned

VS/MP mode I don’t care about but the rest sounds great . It’s not bad to have but I want a great single player mecha game

- Will not be soulsbourne gameplay

All I wanted to know.

I know this is me being biased, but I really was hoping somehow it would’ve played like a souls-like game, lol. Even though it’s far from what an Armored Core game was.

Still, in my mind translating the combat and having giant weird mechanical bosses and an interconnected world made me super excited.

Finally. I still have all the xbox 360 Armored Core games. Finally another game

Man i really respect and admire Miyazaki and his team, he really knows what he’s doing. Where to go next and how to follow up Elden Ring ? You rewind the clock… interesting.

I think we are gonna have Arena pvp, like last Elden dlc, and you will see crazy crazy builds made by players... high mobility... crazy shields build, tanks, cannons omg. Its gonna be insane.

Also, yes mission based but I'm guessing something like dark souls design... metroidvania type... like a world with a hub, and each sections with a different setting and they are all connected somehow... you will scream no way.
MAybe, that's my thoughts... I would really like that.

So happy for this... really hyped up!
Whatever these guys do it will be great!

For me, these Mario + Rabbids games were the best thing Ubisoft has developed in recent years. I'd hate to see Ubisoft drive the series into the ground like their other properties, so I think 2 games are enough. Maybe 1 more.

They can't ruin it because Ninty will send their ninjas to destroy all traces of it. If not for that you can bet that spinoff series would've been milked dry by now.

Good luck in your future endeavors

Thank you for Mario + Rabbids series, I quite enjoyed it

Great games, I have wanted Sony to copy these games with their own mascots for years.

not cinematic or 3rd person enough for Sony

I think Nintendo has to hire this guy, I mean the fact that miuamoto himself said to him that he is impressed with this work, speaks volumes. Th possibility on having Mario on Soliani's hand could be incredible and quite possibly a new era for Mario games.

Yea, these games didn't even feel Ubisoft at all. This felt very authentic Nintendo. This guy's direction is obviously stellar, and Ubisoft somehow managed to not kill it with microtransactions and repetitive, boring tasks.
