This year's Game Awards nominees highlight a difference in how we see all-ages games versus mature ones.
What is this writer talking about? Great games are great games regardless of their rating. There just weren’t any exceptional ones released this year. Kirby was great, but definitely not goty material
Naturally the stories made for a mature audience are going to be more interesting. More complexity and nuance. We don’t compare cocomelon to game of thrones even though they are both great at distracting their audiences.
Seems someone is really upset that Kirby didn't win GOTY. It is interesting that the writer didn't mention the 2021 Game Awards where only 2 of 6 GOTY nominees were rated Mature and It Takes Two won.
