Armored Cored VI Fires of Rubicon — Reveal Trailer

From the legendary minds at FROMSOFTWARE, the ARMORED CORE series blazes a brand-new trail in ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON.

-Foxtrot503d ago

At first I honestly thought it was a brand new Sci-Fi inspired Souls game

Still have hope for the future though, you never know where the Soul like games will take us

CBaoth503d ago

think the director of Sekiro is at the helm. Should be good

metabolicfrolic502d ago (Edited 502d ago )

It started with Miyazaki initially and is now being headed by the lead designer of Sekiro, Masaru Yamamura. I am hype incarnate. A world crafted by the father of Demon's Souls himself and being finalized by the guys that brought us the intense combat of Sekiro.

RaidenBlack502d ago

Might be my favorite trailer from TGA.
And also one of the best trailers I've seen in a while.
Really well edited. Kudos.

CorndogBurglar503d ago (Edited 503d ago )

The genre is popular. It's only a matter of time before someone makes a sci-fi soulsborn game. I can't think of a single genre that has reached a level of popularity that only stuck to one setting.

And technically, Star Wars Fallen Order already did. But I know that isn't what you're looking for.

Gamehard503d ago

Wouldn't The Surge kinda fit into that category? I know it's not as good as a fromsoft game, but it's something at least.

CBaoth503d ago

yeah but i guess I'm hoping for mechs with fast Sekiro type combat gameplay. Not slow n plodding on foot to foot. Like you and Corn mention, there's a growing number of souls clones and with SW Fallen Order and Remnant, some of them are quite good

Godmars290502d ago

It very likely will follow Soul's themes, but how is this the first time you've hard of Armed Core?

RedDevils502d ago

f that, ARMORED CORE is what matter.

i screamed when this was shown. i’ve waited so long for a new ac 😭

Tacoboto502d ago

The reviews of older AC titles seem mid-to-decent; players of those games, how they hold up to you?

Didn't play them when I was younger, but after Elden Ring and Sekiro especially I'm hooked on anything FROM is doing.

metabolicfrolic502d ago (Edited 502d ago )

The originals ones on PS1 are cool, but I can't really speak on whether they've aged well. I remember them being a bit slower and clunky. Tank controls iirc

The PS2 games, specifically AC3, were the golden era. They are hard to find nowadays outside of emulation. They hold up fairly well.

The PS3 games, most notably AC4 and 4A, have the closest esthetic to AC6. The energy barriers around the mechs (I kid you not, they are called Kojima particles) were introduced in AC4. Also, the main core in the spotlight of the AC6 trailer is basically a redesign of White Glint from AC4.

AC5 and Verdict Day went all in on PvP, but PvP has always been a shining part of the series. One of the PS1 games is literally called "Master of the Arena." I think it really reached its mech vs. mech pinnacle in AC: Last Raven on PS2. They called their pilots "Ravens." How cool is that?

So yeah. For Geoff to say it's a legendary series is an accurate statement.

FinalFantasyFanatic502d ago

The PS1 games had super clunky controls, love those games, but analogue sticks made such a huge difference to the gameplay.

Sirk7x502d ago

Armored Core V was already 10 years ago, and Fromsoft has come a LONG way since then. They won GOTY with their last two games in a row now. I'd be surprised if this didn't end up being the best Armored Core game by a longshot.

Godmars290502d ago

Kind of left the series around the actual third or fourth entry. Became too floaty.

Vengeance1138502d ago

Hopefully in these modern times we can finally see an AC game with non-dog shii environments. Mechs have always been super detailed but environments have always looked like bland low res stretched tectures and generic cubes and rectangles as buildings.

SkullBlade502d ago (Edited 502d ago )

Finally, I have been a fan of this series since the original on PS1 and I have been hoping they would make a new one for a long time.

So now they will focus on quality? lol

blackblades70d ago

To be fair, they the only ones. Square and other Japanese devs been lacking is quality for a long time and they made up for it in good games.

SilentZeroX70d ago

Capcom, Nintendo, and Atlus are far better than Bandai, and you can't really count FromSoftware as one of Bandai's studios.

blackblades70d ago

@silent yeah I know, i ment to put a few. Example square gives quality to FF, with SO and valkyrie nope. Koei quality been eh but there games are fun. Its not just Japanese though.

1Victor70d ago

Good let’s hope others follow them before the industry get too close to collapsing again.

-Foxtrot70d ago

Yeah…when they realised we’re not all massive suckers

Pepsi_Man300070d ago

Absolutely insane that quality wasn't already a focus

H970d ago

That's the most insane statement I have ever heard, it's basically saying "from now on we will try to make good games"

CrimsonWing6970d ago

I mean, why in the f*ck wasn’t this the priority from the get-go? Now that you see consumers aren’t going to swallow up your dribble for full price you have to make the announcement that you’re focused on making “quality” games now? What a joke.

jznrpg70d ago (Edited 70d ago )

Quality should always be the focus and that will get you $$$$. Though I have to say Bandai Namco has made some great games but some of their anime stuff could be better quality
