Tactics Ogre: Reborn Review [Capsule Computers ]

Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes:

"There was once a time where the strategy RPG genre had begun to fade away with only the occasional release from mainstay series keeping it afloat. Now in 2022 we have seen a resurgence of sorts with Square Enix leading the charge with not only two brand new IPs released earlier in the year but now the return of a classic that has seen quite a lot of love over the years, Tactics Ogre: Reborn. Originally released back in as a Super Nintendo game back in 1995, ported to PlayStation in 1998, and then given the full remake treatment in 2010 for the PSP, this game has seen a number of releases and now Square Enix is ready to give it one more. Deciding if I play this or Crisis Core after I finish Star Ocean . Either way I’ll play those 2 games next

I completely forgot about Star Ocean. How is it?

I like it , good story combat is fun . Fly around and stuff . Environments are not the greatest but it’s not a big budget game .

Def will buy this for Switch just waiting for a price drop even though it's new. Kind of surprised there was no black Friday deal or even any deal so far for the Holidays.

Review - Tactics Ogre: Reborn (Switch) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Thomas Medina: "For my money, Tactics Ogre: Reborn is the best version of the game to play. It’s the best looking and sounding version for sure. The soundtrack is especially a masterpiece. There’s also been plenty of tweaks and adjustments to the gameplay, all for the better in my opinion. It balances things out, adds new depth to minute to minute gameplay, and cuts down on grinding. That being said however, I can’t help but feel this is a game that time has passed by. It feels like a product of its time, with newer games doing the same things, but better. Especially Triangle Strategy, a game I now recognize takes a lot of cues from this title. It’s still a good game, and worth playing for people curious about the history of the genre. Beyond that however, I just don’t see the hype. "
