An availability increase combined with great game releases will do that. Christmas sales will be huge if they can finally meet demand.

FinalFantasyFanatic189d ago

Imagine if the pandemic didn't happen and they had more consoles available earlier, crazy.

potedude189d ago

They're finally starting to become commonplace in Australia. Only took two years!

kingnick188d ago

I hope the supply issues are behind us in Australia. Will be interesting to see how long it is before PS5 and Xbox Series X are commonplace on store shelves.

darkrider189d ago (Edited 189d ago )

Crazy numbers. The power of a goty game with major increase in supply. I think I neever saw the ps5 reach this number in one week, only on launch.

How they were able to sell 450k in one week! Huge supply increase.

If Sony can keep or increase the supply, we'll this holidays they will sell millions.

"This is the best week for PS5 sales since the week ending December 25, 2021, where it sold 516,118 units."

darkrider189d ago

Yeah, it's crazy. Very close to beat that.

S2Killinit189d ago

Woah that is a lot of console in just a week!

KillBill189d ago

They literally said it in the article synopsis that last December they reached said sales. "This is the best week for PS5 sales since the week ending December 25, 2021, where it sold 516,118 units."

That’s a huge boost. COD and GoW bundles clearly having a huge impact!

cell989189d ago

COD definitely helped with this

jznrpg189d ago

Estimates are usually lower than actual sales . Either way PS5 is in stock right now for hours instead of seconds now but still sell quickly. I could have got a GoW bundle but I want a Pro or Slim so I’m holding out for my second PS5

Orchard189d ago (Edited 189d ago )

I wouldn’t even say hours at this point - it’s days/weeks or permanently in stock in NA, depending on region. It’s even discounted in some places.

They’re able to produce much higher numbers now - and we’re seeing that reflect in the sales.

Nyxus189d ago

Really? Here in the Netherlands it's still sold out everywhere, except for one store that's scalping it for €800. And in Japan they're still doing lotteries. But in NA it's not only available but also discounted?

Orchard189d ago (Edited 189d ago )

Yeah pretty easy to find in NA.

A quick check right now showed Walmart US has disk and digital in stock. PS direct has bundles and standalones for disk and digital.

Walmart MX has bundles and standalones for disk and digital - disk models (including bundles) are on discount.

I guess NA countries probably get more stock than NL just due to being far bigger countries/markets for Sony.

MrNinosan189d ago

Can you give a link where it's in stock discounted please.

darkrider189d ago

Dude, are using links from Mexican shops to say it's available in the US? I'm from Europe, but when I say it available it's in my country and not in Ukraine or Italy or Spain.

It means that I go to a shop and buy it. That's what it means available. Right now I still can't do that. Like almost everyone. You need to be lucky or be able the pre order the ps5...

Orchard189d ago (Edited 189d ago )

@darkrider If you want US links, here you go:

GoW disk bundle: https://direct.playstation....

GoW digital bundle: https://direct.playstation....

Disk standalone: https://direct.playstation....

GoW disk bundle on Walmart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/...

GoW digital: https://www.walmart.com/ip/...

Like I said, all over NA. No luck required - all you need is a web browser, internet and a credit card.

MrNinosan189d ago

@orchard
"It's days/weeks or permanently in stock in NA, depending on region. It's even discounted in some paces"

Then I get some links to what? Is that really NA, and is that price actually lower than standard prices in USD?

Orchard189d ago

@Nino To answer your questions:

1. Yes, MX is part of North America.
2. I don't know if it's lower than USD prices, they don't use USD in Mexico and I would assume the USD is stronger, but it is a discount from the MSRP in Mexico which Sony sets for retailers. Check the Sony store (where it's also instock) for the MSRP, https://store.sony.com.mx/p...

@Crows So the links above are lying? It seems unlikely that Sony are lying about stock on their own store/website.

shinoff2183189d ago (Edited 189d ago )

You got a link orchard. I haven't seen anything yet.

Those links you sent were from Mexico not the u.s.
First you say north America which Mexico is in so you right but second post says u.s. specifically. Which Mexico is Mexico not u.s.
Nice try though

Your new u.s. links are only putting you in a line to buy not actually buying quite yet.

Orchard189d ago (Edited 189d ago )

@Shinoff

Any of the US links for PlayStation Direct & Walmart above work without a queue. You can just add them straight to cart and checkout, PS Direct will even let you buy multiple:

PSDirect: https://i.imgur.com/E0X1vQH...
Walmart: https://i.imgur.com/SLlMl1G...

Anyway, I've done my good deed for the day. Hopefully my links above help some folk get their hands on consoles easily. Enjoy!
