PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S Sales Comparison - October 2022

October 2022 is the 24th month the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 5 when compared to the aligned launch of the Xbox Series X|S by 337,227 units.

In the last 12 months, the PlayStation 5 has outsold the Xbox Series X|S by 1.90 million units. The PlayStation 5 is currently ahead by 7.51 million units.

That's 2 million for this year so far. By the end of this year you should expect that to balloon to at least 5 million units and the total gap to rise to at least 12 million. Also keep in mind that the PS5 was pretty much out of stock for the first half of the year. It has yet to be seen if Sony can achieve it's 18 million shipment goal for the FY.

It is incredible how Microsoft with two models, a cheap, available everywhere and "easy" to manufacture one and other really next gen is selling less systems than Sony with a hard to manufacture one.
