September 2022 is the 23rd month the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 5 when compared to the aligned launch of the Xbox Series X|S by 127,047 units.

In the last 12 months, the Xbox Series X|S has outsold PlayStation 5 by 376,776 units. The PlayStation 5 is currently ahead by 752,363 units.

It doesnt say worldwide they were simply pointing it out. I live in the us and i can say xbox does good in the us mostly due to the fk yea america people. They claim to buy american products. Idk if xbox are made in america but i doubt it. Theyd cost more. Sh anyway dude was just pointing it out thats all

The rough breakdown is Europe PS5 is double the Series like 8m - 4m and then in JP the PS5 leads by about 2m with 2.3m - .3m. Add in this 800k gap in the US to the rest of the world (which is about 900k) and you get you 7.5m lead for PS5.
