Kinda expected bigger differences on the ps5 version honestly. I mean it’s sharper, but kinda feels like that’s it. Makes me wish it was only a ps5 title so they could have pushed it more. Don’t get me wrong, it’s gorgeous, but the differences are small for a next gen console.

Binarycode913d ago

It is a PS4 game first and foremost. As was the previous one.

I think there's slightly more foliage in area's and obviously higher rez and framerate versions.

But if you think of say PC high and Ultra. There's actually not much difference, but performance can tank.

The biggest thing really for sometime has been raytracing. But it's not in every game.

''But if you think of say PC high and Ultra. There's actually not much difference, but performance can tank.''

This is exactly one of the most common misconceptions when it comes to graphics for a long time now (for better part of last decade).

A lot of people expect night and day differences when they go from High to Ultra in a lot of games (...) hell even the jump from Medium settings in a lot of games to Ultra can be proven quite marginal.

''The biggest thing really for sometime has been raytracing. But it's not in every game.''

Its really shame, despite being a cool feature in some games, in most cases its a performance killer.

Hmmm now I'm curious how this would run on steamdeck. I guess we'll find out in a few years if they release it on PC. I'll eventually upgrade to ps5 so I'll play it on there.

MrVux000912d ago

I think it would run fine on steam deck (judging from initial impressions from GOW 2018).

Granted, it comes with lower resolution and its not as smooth as on consoles and desktop PC.

The graphics are great. Don't see they can get much better without massive use of ray tracing. Something that maybe only on the ps6 pro will be possible.

paddy95913d ago

Hopefully a proper PS5 version will get made at some point.

Ninver913d ago

They should take a page out of naughty dogs book

Crows90913d ago

What? No..no they shouldn't kill Kratos with a golf club.

Si-Fly912d ago

It already runs at 30fps in quality mode dude, are you asking for an ultra quality mode at 15fps? 🤣

GameBoyColor913d ago

Graphics are whatever, don't care if it looks the same as the ps4 on my Sony Playstation 5. I'll still enjoy the hell out of it.

Eidolon913d ago

I would be very concerned and disappointed if that's what we get after the time in development and anticipation for even a cross-gen game from a hugely reputable developer. I would still play it but I would be considering waiting for an upgrade.. I put Last of Us 2 off so much because I didn't have a PS5 and the patch was still not confirmed to be coming any time soon, and finally just said fuck it, so I rented and playing on my PS4 Pro and enjoyed it immensely, patch came out the same out but didn't get the PS5 until half a year later... I regret nothing.

well... its not quite what I was expecting but still nice they honor the spartan.

What an absolute half-hearted and shoddy way for Sony to commemorate the epic God of War series. A few alternative skins and the option to buy t-shirts or vinyl. It would have been better to not have any celebration. Abysmal.

No offense Sony… but nobody is playing God of war ragnarok in 2025…

andy8550d ago

Every month in 2025 God of War Ragnarok has had more steam users than Starfield.

Inverno50d ago

Bruv I'm pretty there are more people playing literally anything BUT Starfield.

Profchaos50d ago

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if there was more people playing bubsy 3d than starfield

Profchaos50d ago

Yeah no one at all especially when it just became available to the millions of PS plus subscribers

PanicMechanic50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

Maybe it’s because I sold my Ps5 last year and built a new PC. But ragnarok I finished in 2022 when it released. Don’t have any motivation to replay.

Profchaos50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

It would have been nice to have a PS plus drop of the ps2 original though I get that

Cacabunga50d ago

I actually installed it again today to try the latest roguelite DLC. Costumes is a nice addition but def expected something else.

Killer2020UK50d ago

Mate, I only started playing the previous one. It holds up unbelievably well considering it was a PS4 release

Damn Sony
You keep on remastering recent games and yet choose not to for a franchise that's celebrating it's 20 years?
I'm sure a lot of old and new fans would appreciate being able to play the entire saga using their current gen consoles.

Shane Kim50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

Sure but that would require to actually remaster. Not selling the same game from last gen in a new box and call it remaster.

Profchaos50d ago

I admit I got a bit swept up in thinking we would get a PS classics drop of the first game on PS plus not a remaster or anything just running under the new ps2 emulator id be.halpy with that or the PSP games that deserve more praise really

New in-game content incentives coming to PlayStation games on PC

Playstation writes: "Starting with tomorrow’s release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PC, we’re working to add more benefits to playing with an account for PlayStation Network. The Last of Us Part II Remastered (coming April 3, 2025), in addition to God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, will all soon be adding in-game content unlocks for PlayStation Network account users.

An account for PlayStation Network will become optional for these titles on PC. Players who still opt to sign into a PlayStation Network account will also enjoy added benefits like trophies and friend management."
