Looks very similar. I'll pass.

A remake of a game looks like the game it's remaking? Who would've seen it coming!?

Ninver929d ago

Hahaha. The insanity of some people

CrimsonWing69928d ago (Edited 928d ago )

Yea, I mean... look at the reception of Last of Us Remake. Honestly, I'm shocked that people aren't losing their damn minds at this Remake when it's a 1:1 Remake just like The Last of Us Remake.

At least people aren't calling it a Remaster. Have to look at the silver lining on this one.

Welshy928d ago

@crimson the TLOU remake controversy wasn't anything to do with being faithful or not to the original.

Dead Space is 5 years older than TLOU at nearly 15 years old now. Not to mention it never had a remaster on modern platforms already. Its a bit of an apple vs orange comparison tbh.

YourMommySpoils929d ago

Would you have preferred a Disney princess as the main character?

ChubbyBlade929d ago (Edited 929d ago )

Dumbest comment on n4g of the year goes to…

CS7929d ago

DCOAT nominee as well.

Crows90929d ago

How should it be instead? Top down?

Pedrof928d ago

Wow. Amazing community, really, that can't think of actual remakes done in the past that looked almost nothing like the orginal and thus were interesting to play for fans and newcomers alike. I don't know, GC Resident Evil, anyone ? PS4 Resident Evil 2 ? Tomb Raider Anniversary ? Final Fantasy VII Remake ? You guys have zero culture nor imagination or what ?

ChubbyBlade928d ago

Not all remakes need to be a complete reinvention. They’ve already shown area differences and the like. They’ve already spoken of changes to expect.

Michiel1989928d ago

shunning the community because they dont agree with you....seems like you're the bad apple here

Pedrof928d ago

@Michiel Shunning the community because they call me insane, stupid, drunk, dumb and high. Not because they "disagree".

Tzuno928d ago (Edited 928d ago )

Take a moment and it'll pass, yeah.. its the same game but is a good game and deserves a new graphical treat.
From the look of it, looks like a remaster/remake combination
You'll enjoy it if you liked the original. Recently i played the remake of Shadow of the Colossus and couldn't been more happy, i haven't had the chance to play the original and it was perfect.

Neonridr928d ago

that's the point to a remake. It's not a reboot or reimagining.

Pedrof928d ago

That's the point of a remaster. A remake means the work is re-made, from scratch. Look at remakes in cinema. Does "I Am Legend" look anything like the original ? Does "The Departed" look anythink like "Infernal Affairs" ? Actually it's when the remake looks identical to the original that it creates a surprise (see Gus Van Sant "Psycho"). And now I'm called stupid because I'm not interested in a so-called "remake" that looks and plays just like the original... And I'm the dumbest comment of all-time.

Neonridr928d ago

@Pedrof - were you expecting the Last of Us PS5 version to be different from the PS4 version? Where would you think they would change it? Even Resident Evil 2 and 3 were the same games, just tweaked for newer hardware.

Pedrof927d ago

@Neonridr No I wasn't expecting it because I knew it wasn't ND's goal to spend massive amounts of money on that project. But I sure didn't bother playing it. I have a backlog hundreds of games strong, so I'm not interested in replaying something I've already played. If it had been a true remake, sure, I would have been curious. But I have no idea how they would change it. TLOU and Dead Space have in common to be very modern games in my opinion. Have gaming design trends evolved so much since their release ? I'm not so sure. I don't think either of them needed to be remade, and it shows when you look at their PS5 version. Still, I like that they gave Isaac a voice.

Neonridr927d ago

@Pedrof - fair enough, I never played through the original all the way, so I'm looking forward to doing it on the PS5.

I was a bit down on the the earlier footage they showed but the latest footage honestly looks amazing to me. The lighting and particle effects look especially great. The updates to the zero-g sections look incredible.

I haven't played the original in more than ten years so I'm really looking forward to this remake.

VersusDMC929d ago

There are a ton of changes. Different layouts to rooms(probably to have jump scares in different places), new environments, not having to use the tram so you are able to walk from one end of the ship to the other, side missions(more nicole holograms as shown in the video), free moving zero G from DS2 and 3,etc...

People saying it's the same is crazy!

SonyStyled929d ago

It’s the same game with the modern improvements you listed. It’s not a retelling of the original game. It’s a remake of the original game.

Crows90929d ago

Well I don't want to spoil anything but if what he said is true then no it's not the same game. If there are new areas and new content and new movement then it's not the same. Demons souls remake is the same as the previous but this is not the same. Still a remake though.

Einhander1971928d ago

Love the originals, so this remake looks amazing. Day one for me.

CrimsonWing69928d ago

Sorry, unrelated to the topic or your comment, but I just had to say your user name is fantastic! Loved that game, oh and to keep on topic, Dead Space Remake is Day 1 for me, too!

Binarycode928d ago

If people buy this, then you can bet there will be more games on this type. ppl need to buy this.

EA Cut Dead Space's Marketing Budget to Pour Into Mirror's Edge Due to Mock Review Scores

Former Visceral Games devs reveal Dead Space's marketing budget was cut in favor of Mirror's Edge because of mock review scores.

Knightofelemia127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

I wish EA would just release a DS2 remake. DS is my favorite horror game and DS2 is the best one in the franchise. But because DS1 failed to meet certain numbers EA scrapped the DS2 remake. SH2 remake was great rumors are Konami might be asking for another SH remake. The RE2 remake was great EA just needs to give it another try. But all they seem to do is shitty sports games that are no different from the year before. Change a few players, add different uniform colours, maybe change a team logo. Wash, rinse, repeat.

goken127d ago

Agreed. DS was great. But DS2 was even better. Would love to see a DS2 remake, though I would love to see a DS4 even more.
The problem with EA is they make easy $ from the slight changes to their sports titles like football FC games (whatever it’s called nowadays). People just lap that sh1t up.
Comparatively, games like DS which don’t sell 10s of millions, can’t sell them team player add ons and all the like, would seem a hassle to make and unappealing comparatively. Especially when you consider that most EA non sport titles haven’t actually performed well recently.

Dark Souls 2, Darksiders 2, Dead Space 2, Death Stranding 2, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2

chicken_in_the_corn126d ago

The Dead space remake was so good. Better than the original. Shame they won't remake 2.

__y2jb126d ago

I loved the original dead space but the remake I just found boring. Game design has moved on and the game really showed its age, just small area encounters repeated again and again.

DefenderOfDoom2126d ago

I bought Dead Space during launch window and I never bought a Mirror's Edge game .

Inverno126d ago

Then they went on to screw both games over.

UnbreakableAlex126d ago

I'd rather see a new and great Mirrors Edge than another boring Dead Space.

EA Japan Exec Criticises Japanese Ratings Board

An executive of Electronic Arts Japan has criticised the Japanese video game ratings board for allowing upcoming action game Stellar Blade to be released uncensored while EA's own Dead Space was banned in the country.

CrimsonWing69374d ago

He’s got a point. If a game is M-Rated, which is the equivalent of an R rating, I don’t get why you need to censor anything. The rating is the indicator of the content and the age appropriate. If it’s appropriate for adults… why treat them like children? 🤷‍♂️

Eonjay374d ago (Edited 374d ago )

This is about gore... not about anything sexual. And specifically I think it is about the realistic depiction of gore. Unfortunately I don't know the nuance of the CERO board or how it is relevant their specific culture (as a prohibition on gore may transcend age) so I hesitate to make a statement. Can anyone else provide insight to what kind of gore is considered unacceptable?

CrimsonWing69374d ago (Edited 374d ago )

Yea, I know this is about gore, but thanks for pointing that out.

My point still stands, if a game is essentially rated for a mature audience then why censor for them as if they’re too young to view it? Makes no sense.

To answer your question: Decapitation, dismemberment, like… anything gore. They have been censoring that since CERO was established. Look up RE4 chainsaw decapitation or any MK games that made it there.

Cacabunga374d ago

EA Japan? Wtf never heard of that

ZwVw374d ago

Yet, the Oneechanbara series (y'know, the game with half-naked samurai females slicing up zombies to bloody pieces) get released in Japan uncensored.

The CERO ratings board is an equilibrium.

Smellsforfree373d ago

This confuses me since I've seen so many gory Japanese movies and anime. For example, Battle Royale.

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 373d ago
gold_drake374d ago

definitely has a point.

but .. its japan. are we really surprised?

VersusDMC374d ago

I don't know if the EA executive is going off the one close up of an arm being cut off in the demo. Maybe it's uncensored because it's the arm of a cyborg or it doesn't happen that often (didn’t see EVE dismemberment when killed in the demo) .

In the states there's a certain amount of swear words allowed to a PG13 movie before it is deemed R. So maybe it's the same in Japan for gore?

Eonjay374d ago

Yes I think you may be on to something. The violence is gory but I wouldn't call it gruesome.

Retroman374d ago

Ea Japan please make Knack 3
in the future

Eonjay374d ago (Edited 374d ago )

Does EA Japan actually make games at all? Or are they just a regional publisher?

Retroman373d ago

I'm sorry Japan Studio made Knack
