Hard pass. First time I skip a NFS game. I thought the leaked screenshots were promotional materials, but the website description states this is the new artstyle for the game. Just can't stomach it.

Eonjay982d ago

I disagree. I really like the art style.
The visual ques really make the sense of speed pop. NFS has always been more arcady and less simulation.

CrimsonWing69982d ago

Man, I dig the hell out of it.

It actually makes me want to buy this Day 1, which is crazy since I’ve never gotten a NFS game at launch since NFS Most Wanted on the 360. I’m really liking what they’ve done here.

outsider1624982d ago

I kinda like the change in artstyle. If they didn't do anything to it, people would still complain how it's the same game over and over again.

drcanttouchthis981d ago (Edited 981d ago )

I can see how the art style would be turn some fans of the series off. I'd feel that way for a few games, but imo NFS needs to do something to attract newcomers along with making things feel a bit fresh for vets. I haven't been a NFS fan since the Underground series and Most Wanted. If the gameplay is nice, I may become a fan again. I dig the art style, but that could be due to me being a fan of cell shaded art work. They should have shown more gameplay.

SinisterMister981d ago

Oh come on. You should at least give it a go. The devs are trying something new with the game. Why not at least try it out?

CantThinkOfAUsername981d ago

Because I'm not a fan of this artstyle at all, and it's something I'll be looking at most of the time. If it was a toggle-able option, I'd have no problem playing the game.

Haven't been into the franchise since all the way back to Porsche Unleashed on PC. Unbound does not make me want to re-visit. That said, I'm SHOCKED this isn't yet another dragged out cross-gen title.

Si-Fly982d ago

Best NFS has looked in years to me!

rpvenom981d ago

Same. I'm actually really into this aesthetic. Reminds me of Spiderman Into the SpiderVerse

Si-Fly980d ago

Haha, maybe that’s why I like it so much!

Need for Speed will return in “new and interesting ways,” says EA

Support for Need for Speed Unbound has ended as Criterion focuses on the new Battlefield.

RaidenBlack131d ago

Plz no live service only NFS.
You already tried that with the reboot which was online only.

FinalFantasyFanatic130d ago

I can totally see them doing that again.

andy85130d ago

Just give me Underground 2 remastered

Fonsecap130d ago

Don't known if you're aware, but there is a modding team remastering the game in unreal engine 5, look for it it's looking good.

ApocalypseShadow130d ago

But no Burnout since you bought the competition to kill their game. And what's left of Criterion who stayed, were put to make your game need for speed. Don't care what ways it comes back. It's EA. No buy.

CosmicTurtle130d ago

They bought Criterion for their middleware engine Renderware I believe. But the studio was a bonus.

TheColbertinator130d ago

I enjoyed NFS Heat but they never built properly on that.

When to expect a great one should be the question. Must be 15 years

Dandalandan117150d ago

Why can't they just give fans what they want?
Remake NFSU, NFSU2, or the original Most Wanted.
Or what about a new Burnout game perhaps?

Deathtracker150d ago

We've been waiting for these remakes since, like, forever.

badboyz09150d ago

I'll wait for Midnight Club😁

The_Hooligan150d ago

Same. They should remaster the trilogy. I'll buy it day 1. I still have all three for the PS2.

Michiel1989150d ago

fuck need for speed, give us a new burnout by Criterion

Fonsecap149d ago

Search YouTube for Need for speed underground 2 remaster, modders are porting the game to UE

How Need for Speed has reinvented itself for 30 years

"Need for Speed has always been too ahead of its time." An in-depth development team interview, covering 30 years of NfS.

gold_drake172d ago

underground 1 and 2 are still the best ones.

isarai171d ago

And they're spent every game after that trying to chase that high and never meeting it

Ninver170d ago

Makes you think if gamers are looking to relive nostalgia or each dev that has attempted to mimic the glory days are just incompetent?

DarXyde170d ago

Truth. Loved Midnight Club.

I wouldn't be mad at another proper Underground or Most Wanted (PS2/X360) entry though.
