I hope that Microsoft would address these quality/build issues since consumers are paying more for what is marketed as a "premium" product. And I hope that Sony doesn't have these same issues when they launch the DualSense Edge.
Purchased my first Series Elite 2 controller a few days ago and the trigger already squeaks like crazy. Ended up returning it and won’t be getting another one. This kind of build quality for a $154 “on sale” controller is unacceptable!
Me too. But they have to have the numbers seeing how many of these have been warrantied and they still haven't done anything about it. These are issues dating back to version 1. It unacceptable these are still issues on a premium product.
The standard Xbox controllers are the loudest clickiest controllers I’ve ever used. That’s my issue.
The elite controllers aren’t as bad plus you get hair lock triggers and replaceable stick caps. The problem is that they cost significantly more and the build quality isn’t great.
Had one for awhile and I agree but at the same time, I kinda miss it (had to change for a Dualsense because there was a lack of stock on xbox controllers) (I'm a pc gamer)
Truth hurts. They won’t get over that hurdle either if we’re patting them on the back and telling how great a job their doing. Controllers are great, quality AAA games are even better.
@optimus At least there's a large group of PlayStation fans complaining about that issue. And as far as I recall...that's just one this year. You guys don't complain about anything and j was an Xbox fan during 360 and early one days so I know the heart breaking feeling for sure. There were only so many wait till next year announcements I could take.
How elite is it now if you have no grips left? It was my main gripe too. For the price point it was anything but ELITE after only a few months of consistent usage…
Bro, I’m not a Microsoft employee. Ask them not me. With all this backlash you will think they will listen. Yet here we are with version 2 falling apart.
Yeah ive been rolling around the idea of getting the 2. But then i remember that i had to replace the elite 1 twice when the grips fell off. Thankfully amazon took care of me on both of those instances. Anyway i just don’t understand why they, one, cant fix the issues with the internals, and two, dont offer a version without the terrible rubber grips.
Fantastic controller with severe build quality issues. Luckily they have a 12 months warranty instead of 3 months. On my 3rd controller during that time due to bumper failure.
Unacceptable really but what makes it hurt more is how good the controller is, it's worth the money, if you don't have any issues. Which is rare clearly.
The Elite 2 is the best controller I’ve ever used. Now with that out of the way I’m on my THIRD one. I get them from Best Buy’s and always buy the $60 warranty just in case. The first Elite controller was HORRIBLE as far as build quality goes. MS had to give me a extra Elite for free because the one I got day one arrived broken and they had no more in stock at the time. Elite 2 has “better” build quality but still lacking. Overall it’ not worth the price and I highly recommend getting the warranty anytime you spend $175 on a controller.
The problem is, people made it acceptable to sell these controllers at that price. They’re not made with better components. They’ve just got a few extra buttons, a little floss and a premium stamp. The intention is to sell them to muppets who will buy them. It’s a massive return on the profits of these things and that’s the sole point of them.
The year is 2022, we can build things like self-driving cars, 3D print houses, etc. - but still, no gaming company can make a controller that has a decent build quality & reliability...
I've only ever had to replace the original controller out the box once since 1982 and that was a PS4 controller. Build quality is fine, it's the gamer imo
Glad it wasn't just me. The series 2 is built like crap when compared to series 1. If you drop this controller it's over. Shame too because I like the feel of the elite controller it has a nice weight to it. Hard to go back to the standard controller after using elites for awhile.
I hope that Microsoft would address these quality/build issues since consumers are paying more for what is marketed as a "premium" product. And I hope that Sony doesn't have these same issues when they launch the DualSense Edge.
Just stick with the controller the console comes with.
Xbox broke you're heart over a controller ? I thought it would have been lack of AAA games and the waiting game for 10 years 🤭🤫
I have my OG elite. It’s my main controller even if all the grips fell off.
