The Wii will get its own video distribution service next year, according to Japan's Nikkei business daily newspaper. It will take a different approach than the ones Sony and Microsoft pursued on their respective consoles.
In the PS3 section...why?
Dog only nose why.
to follow the guidelines like xix should just have their privileges provoked.
I dunno, I'm not really in the market for something else sucking off my storage space until they finally put out a true storage solution. Where's our Hard drive addon nintendo?
I don't see how this works without some sort of storage solution. You have to cache the data locally some how. "I'm sorry, but you do not have enough 'Wii Blocks' to stream 'Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.' I have taken the liberty of deleting enough save game data to make room."
Family programming? Great, now I get to watch Step by Step and Full House (remade for Wii) in glorious 320x240 resolution. No need for standard definition resolution because people will buy the content regardless.
Yay, now my nepehew can go out and buy 1GB cards per movie instead of the DVD! He can do that, while I enjoy my new glorious HD set up! 1080p 46" Sony Bravia with a matching 7.1 surround sound system + a PS3. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is beautimous on this setup. ^_^ I love the universe factory and Magrathea in HD! Deep Thought looks awesome too.
"Yay, now my nepehew can go out and buy 1GB cards per movie instead of the DVD!" Well u could say that about the dix VOD as well. I would just rather buy the dvd/blu ray than "download" it. With all the installations on the ps3 u may not have room left anyway (LBP). "He can do that, while I enjoy my new glorious HD set up! 1080p 46" Sony Bravia with a matching 7.1 surround sound system + a PS3." U do realize alot of ppl are open minded and have both consoles anyway. However i do rather the wii just being a games machine...all the udpating and installing on the ps3 really pisses me off.
Still not interested. Stop hurting the gaming industry Nintendo.
"Still not interested. Stop hurting the gaming industry Nintendo." Theres that word again "Game", im pretty sure its a "Game" machine and not a "movie" machine. I can see why they are doing this however, with the amount of anime they watch at least. But with the small hard drive i cant c this working. I hope nintendo stick with there guns and just keep it a "gaming" console, coz really my dvd/blu ray players support div x and have hardrives already!
Nintendo putting "wii" at the end or beginning of all their products is starting to annoy me.
Just like how they put Super in front of all the SNES games, 64 after all the N64 games, Advance after all the GBA games, and DS after all the NDS games?
Yeah but this generation they have gone all out and not left out one product spare of the word Wii. Unlike their previous consoles and portables they still retained some original titles.
They've always done that. This gen is no different. SSBB, Fire Emblem, SMG, SPM, Wario Land Shake it, PBR,MSC,AC:CF,BW2. It is easy to see you are completely wrong but I know things like facts would only get in the way of your senseless hate that has no place in the gamer zone.
I amazes me that people are annoyed by Nintendo this much. It's like if people are looking for a reason. =/...it's nothing new really.
"Nintendo putting "wii" at the end or beginning of all their products is starting to annoy me." Yeh and how sony always "number" everything kinda gets dull Plus remember the SUPER nintendo.....> SUPER metroid, SUPER pilot wings, SUPER mario world, SUPER mario kart, SUPER ghouls n ghosts, SUPER bomberman etc and the N64....> no different! > Mario 64, Pilot wings 64, Goldeneye 64, donkey kong country 64! There is nothing new with what nintendo has done with the wii...but u being "hardcore" would know this.....(Laughing out Loud)
No need to be a prick. You could have stated that without the insult.
LOL! Wii video service....LMAO! At sub-SD compressed youtube resolutions!!!
"Wii video service....LMAO! At sub-SD compressed youtube resolutions!!!" u know whats real funny....how resistance 2 ONLY runs at 720p, while a game like mario cart is 480p.......WOW huge difference LOL. I mean all this crap about how much better the ps3 resloution is and one of there big titles doesnt even use 1080p. Now thats funny. But the real funny thing is my PC games from 4 years ago look better than any ps3 game ive seen yet!
Man, I have really started to hate Nintendo. No wonder MY Wii and a lot of other's collects dust. The Wii can be fun and for what they have (meaning no 1080p HD) they can totally make it an awesome system. First off add a HDD. Who cares if stupid parents and whatever will be confused on if they need it or not. Hey Nintendo, you are still selling out, don't worry and don't get greedy. After the HDD, revamp its crappy online (not games), but add some real channels, re-do the shop channel, extra. How about a NWE (New WII Experience) And then...trials and demos for all WiiWare and VC games. Take the shop channel or whatever offline for 2 weeks to work on it. Just those few "simple" things to get it up to where 360/PS3 is at. And I'm just talking when I turn it on! Then worry about your movies.
I see no reason to add any kind of HDD when the entire selection of games would fit on a 4gig SD card.
We're talking about a video service, not games, bub. You really think people are going to want to buy more and more SD cards all the damned time? Those things are tiny and with all the kids that play these Wiis....do you really think they'll be perfectly kept track of? It's not like it's a HARD DRIVE we're talking about here...you couldn't really lose that very easily. An SD card, however...you lose that and POOF there goes whatever content you just had! Kids are gonna be swiping their parents' SD cards from their cameras so they can download videos off the Wii, lol.
Again you do not need an HDD for on demand video. It is not a download then watch service but one that is streamed much like youtube and many other sites do. It really helps if you understand what is being discussed bub..It might also help to be an actual Wii owner and know they already offer video for games and such already without a HDD. you can watch youtube without an HDD. Same will apply to these videos. It is in Japan only and they have higher bandwidth then the most other countries.
"Man, I have really started to hate Nintendo. No wonder MY Wii and a lot of other's collects dust. The Wii can be fun and for what they have (meaning no 1080p HD)" Yeh coz resistance (one of there big titles) doesnt even support it. l "they can totally make it an awesome system. First off add a HDD. Who cares if stupid parents and whatever will be confused on if they need it or not. Hey Nintendo, you are still selling out, don't worry and don't get greedy." They have made a totally awesome "game" console. But for downloading Virtual console games the HDD is small. But really after playing it for 2 years thats the only gripe i have with it. I mean at least i dont have to install my games to make them load faster. Right guys. "And then...trials and demos for all WiiWare and VC games. Take the shop channel or whatever offline for 2 weeks to work on it. " Thats a good idea, i mean they let u downlad demos for the DS. But if u played SUper smash brawl u would know they had a whole heap of demos of vc games within that game. But still for ALL titles would be nice too. "Just those few "simple" things to get it up to where 360/PS3 is at. And I'm just talking when I turn it on! Then worry about your movies. " To be honest i like what nintendo are doing. Put in the disc and play! Games!
LOL voiceofreason. This is not about youtube or anything you can already do on the web browser. You really think that an on-demand service only would even take 1 baby step towards success on the WII??? People want to DOWNLOAD stuff and keep it. If they want on-demand, they'll use cable or DISH tv, thank you very much. Doesn't matter if it's Japan only...it still won't get 1 foot off the ground. Do you REALLY think that Japan, with its superior bandwidth abilities...really NEEDS another streaming service? I promise you that they already get the content they want from other sources online or other services that are already in place. A Nintendo on-demand video service is like a joke! Come on, what happened to Nintendo's focus on the casuals and such?? What's with this sudden drift towards media and such? Are they becoming slightly intimidated by the 360 and PS3's fancy all-encompassing services? Maybe Nintendo is starting to feel a bit....naked now that the Wii is actually established and they are actually feeling the need to provide something more than a dressed-up gamecube with a new control interface.
Sure thing kid..Just keep telling yourself that... I am sure that had it had a different name in the announcement, say PSP or anything PS you would feel completely different about it. Your whole argument is just stupid.. If everyone wanted to own something you wouldnt even have the option of using on demand from cable or dish. You simply feel it will fail because it doesnt carry the brand name you follow and will argue with pointless dribble all day long to try to justify your hate.
Excuse me did you notice my reference to the 360 AND PS3 in my comment there? Idiot. Oh yeah and thanks for calling me "kid" to help your little statement there. Everyone knows that being 22 totally negates your opinions, right? Asswipe. Nintendo is trying to progress into an area that is, IN MY OPINION, beyond or mostly irrelevant to the core audience they're trying to reach. They need to focus on making more fantastic GAMES for the Wii instead of a shift in focus towards media. The 360 and PS3 both have fairly balanced offerings of each, with steady growth in games and media content. @ below So you think Japan (the LAND of anime, anime's MECCA), which is INUNDATED with anime from all angles....is going to need a Wii service to get it? LoL! REDUNDANT much???
They do? Just watch how successful this will be in JAPAN due the fact that it will mostlikely be used for ANIME. I'll say it again, most things Nintendo make are made for the Japanese demographic. They even said they will make a HD console IF japan is completely going HD. Not when the Western world goes HD. People also said that Wii wouldn't sell. it even sold with Wii-sports separately in japan. Think about it. It will be successful. EDIT: They don't need a Wii-service, but who says they won't use it? That's what you don't get. Needing something and making use of something are 2 different things. But whatever, it won't even get 1 foot of the ground right? I'll repeat myself, people also said the Wii-wouldn't sell. if you are going to talk about services and what not Ps3 would have been the better "solution" right? and yet the Wii is all so popular in japan.
Thats a jacked up stereotype you got there, its like calling US porn central, or Fattyville. true they love anime, but thats not all everyone watches, and believe it or not their are some japanese Otaku who'd kill for this Wii service. Especially the ones who missed a few Death note or Keroro Gunsou episodes only to find them on the Wii. Heck PCs and Macs can take you online, but people still use wii to browse the net. (I do it cause I live close to a free wifi spot and my PC is under repair), so this will be a success. Thats all I'm saying.
That is not a jacked up stereotype at all, you imbecile. Anime is not bad and in no way did I insinuate it was, like you just did. Japan IS the well-known home of anime. What is wrong with stating that? Do you have a problem with me calling Japan the land of anime? It IS! That's not a stereotype, that's just fact! Can someone bring me some evidence that a video on demand service on a sub-HD console in an area that is already infused with huge-bandwidth networks that are being taken advantage of by computer and TV users for many years now is NOT redundant? Why is Nintendo even bothering??? Where are the awesome GAMES??? Why are they focusing on this diversion instead of trying to win back their true fans who are jumping ship left and right because they are having abandonment issues because Nintendo is purposely alienating them and focusing on casuals? Nintendo is now just too little butter spread over too much bread. They have become thin and transparent, and they no longer hold any weight with any true Nintendo fans. That's how it is, and that's how it will continue to be, until they return to their true focus of bringing great, memorable titles consistently to their loyal fanbase. I don't want to hear about a Wii on-demand service (which will most likely be dead on arrival), I want to hear about the next awesome Wii games (that SHOULD be) coming out.
I didn't insinuate anything. Stats show that we are fat pornoholics (not me. I'm neither) You did slyly suggest all they care about is anime. And stop talking like you know what true nintendo fans want. I love this idea. And first of all lets get the facts straight: To us Nintendo fans: The Wii game collection is good, could be better, but stil good. HD isn't important. We are going to own 2009. Friend codes are only annoying when you have to type them in, its cool afterwards. Ratings don't matter or hype if a game is good its good. And Finally we believe there is no threat to the hardcore (so calked) from casual (as you call it) titles like wii fit and wii music. So We aren't worried about Big N. Only you outsiders looking in are. And chill on the name calling. No imbecile has my IQ level, if so, theres a lot of imbeciles around and almost no normal or smart people.
