PS Plus’s first classic PS1 game has finally added 50hz/60hz region switching

From VGC: "Sony has added the first PlayStation Plus PS1 title in Europe with the option to switch region formats.

When the revamped PlayStation Plus launched in Europe this summer, several classic PlayStation games were discovered to be the 50Hz PAL versions, which run 20% slower than the NTSC 60hz versions used in the US and other regions.

At the time, Sony responded to criticism from some users by claiming that the option to switch to 60Hz was on the way. Three months later, this feature has arrived with Monday’s addition of Syphon Filter 2."

I'm happy they listened here. I have the hight their so I could play some classics now I just need them to add some more games.

I'm curious if PS2 games would be getting lesser games than the other platforms. Correct me if im wrong but it seems for this month, they added something for PS1, PSP and PS3 but not a new PS2 game.

gold_drake973d ago

yea its quite .. cumbersome.

alot of old games IPs are up in the air as to who owns them and such.

they really need to work on a workaround of ps3 games.

Yeah the ps2 program is weird in and of itself. Sony started the ps2 backwards compatibility program on the ps4 essentially wrapping the ps2 games running via emulation with resolution enhancements in a ps4 wrapper with some additional achievements tracked.

It ran for a few years then Sony quietly stopped the program about 3 years later right when rockstar submitted the gta stories games and Max payne 2 for submission sadly enough.

Unless they bring back this program I don't know of we will actually see more ps2 games come as all ps2 games we have so far are from this era a d there are actually some compatibility issues with some games running on ps5

The outrage is now a thing of the past.

After reading the article I'm still scratching my head at how it works. Surely it can't be that the game is sped up ; all sounds would be wrong. Then maybe they just include two games in one and the option allows to switch between the two ? But then language would be affected (as US versions don't provide all european languages).

Gamers Concerned About Borderlands 4 Potentially Costing $80, Gearbox Chief Randy Pitchford Replies

Randy writes: "A) Not my call. B) If you’re a real fan, you’ll find a way to make it happen. My local game store had Starflight for Sega Genesis for $80 in 1991 when I was just out of high school working minimum wage at an ice cream parlor in Pismo Beach and I found a way to make it happen."

*no one buys the game*

Randy: "Where are our real fans?"

*gamers stare back*

Real fan? What the actual f*** man

Does he actually read back what he writes before he posts

neutralgamer19921h ago

I was the biggest BL fan. I played the original solo for so many times. I pre ordered BL2 that loot chest edition and loved it. I bought BL3 on sale and never even touched it's DlC and have very little interest in 4th. For a series that started so strong it's just amazing how much nonsense this series has become with idiot choices

PRIMORDUS6m ago

It doesn't come with Denuvo on PC, while checking Steam.🏴‍☠️

Pretty excited for this the art style I wish was slightly more distinct that Streets of rage but I'd be lying if I said I didn't love some Shinobi.
Really feeling It's the year of retro revivals for me

Shinobi
Terminator
Gex
Croc
Tomb raider IV -vi
Thps 3+4
Oblivion

It's a good year to be an old dude stuck in the past.

Blades of Fire Review - IGN

IGN - "This blacksmithing action RPG doesn’t forge a sharp enough edge."

Armaggedon4h ago

Cool game so far from the demo. I can sense repetitive gameplay being a fate for this title, but for me thats okay. I just like hitting things.

Armaggedon10m ago

Lol. If IGN gives it a low score, its a day one for me. This method has not failed me thus far.

Flewid6384h ago

People in my facebook group been glazing the hell outta this game

anast3h ago

IGN isn't scared of 505. They aren't worried about not getting free copies from them. So, they probably gave them an actual score.
