The worlds second largest cryptocurrency will no longer use graphics cards for mining, freeing them up to game once again. But buyers beware, used card deals that look too good to be true might be exactly that.

I just got a MSI 3080ti brand new on Amazon for $869, why risk buying used?

MadLad371d ago

People, at this point, should just wait for the new gen of cards coming out unless, a, they get a great price offered or, b, their GPU craps out and they legitimately need something in the short term.

I also have a 3080, and I plan on working it for a while. It's a helluva card.

camel_toad371d ago

3080 here too but I honestly wince when I think about the alleged performance difference of the 4080.

Always hurts when your top of the line card gets smashed by new tech within such a short time.

Wafflehead1371d ago

@camel_toad

new generation of cards has been every 2 years for a while now. It's fine and anyone who buys late into a generation should know that by now, why would you want stagnation?

Mobis-New-Nest371d ago

So you're saying I can't be a bitcoin millionaire overnight with a Radeon Hd 6350 Pcie 1gb Ddr3 graphics card? 🤔

NoFanBoy371d ago

Next Tues 20th Nvidia announce the 40 series.

CantThinkOfAUsername371d ago

Because all retailers are still delusional about the value of the mid-range cards. RTX 3070 and below are still selling above MSRP two years later.

New Microsoft/Activision deal addresses previous CMA concerns in cloud gaming

The sale of Activision’s cloud gaming rights to Ubisoft substantially addresses previous concerns and opens the door to the deal being cleared, the CMA said today.

XiNatsuDragnel1d 16h ago

A step 🚶‍♂️ in the direction.

1Victor1d 13h ago

Phil note to self “buy Ubisoft “

crazyCoconuts1d 12h ago

exactly what i was thinking when i read this lol

Zeref1d 11h ago

They're actually not allowed to buy Ubisoft. For 10 years at least lol

badz14923h ago

They don't want Ubi, they want Nintendo

Workshyskiver1d 15h ago

Well at least this drama will be over in the next few weeks. Got to laugh at the CMA though, clearly just looked for a way to save face and act like they achieved anything remotely meaningful.

Profchaos1d 15h ago

I don't want it to stop so far we've seen deep behind the iron curtain I want more

You’re probably not aware that it was MS that went back to the CMA to find ways that it could make the deal pass. Easy to get lost in all of the false narratives that many people put out there.

“Microsoft President Brad Smith has shared a company statement on the move, as the Xbox owner begins "considering how the transaction might be modified" to make it work for the UK CMA.
Here's the full quote from Microsoft:
"After today's court decision in the U.S., our focus now turns back to the UK. While we ultimately disagree with the CMA's concerns, we are considering how the transaction might be modified in order to address those concerns in a way that is acceptable to the CMA.
In order to prioritize work on these proposals, Microsoft and Activision have agreed with the CMA that a stay of litigation in the UK would be in the public interest and the parties have made a joint submission to the Competition Appeal Tribunal to this effect."

Em I am intently aware that as soon as the FTC lost the judge ruling and it became clear that only the CMA was in a position to offer any meaningful opposition both the CMA and MS appeared to the CAT to ask for a stop to their appeal.

CMA's ruling was clearly flawed and nonsensical as was becoming apparent in the CAT hearings and this micky mouse Ubisoft deal is just a way for them to back down with saving some face

Regardless on anyones position on whether the merger should go ahead both the FTC and CMA have done nothing but makes themselves both look clueless about gaming.

raWfodog1d 5h ago

Cool, just showing you what came directly from the MS source. It’s status quo to ignore facts these days.

-Foxtrot1d 15h ago (Edited 1d 15h ago )

After the FTC leaks and Microsofts long term plans...I just can't believe this got passed anywhere buuuut money talks I guess

PhillyDonJawn1d 13h ago

Most of those plans are no longer possible

Zeref1d 11h ago

What exactly leaked that you think should be detrimental to this deal?

-Foxtrot1d 8h ago

The fact that they are power hungry and it’s clear they aren’t going to stop, going for a monopoly or close to it within the gaming industry

Have you been living under a rock?

MrDead1d 14h ago

The power of money on show. When you're as rich as MS you get handed industries as a reward for being rich. We've all seen the evidence of what MS has planned and now there's nothing to stop them.

Remember you don't have to be any good to be competitive, you just need a rich parent company.
