Well, it was a nice announcement while it lasted! Tales of Symphonia Remastered, scheduled to launch in early 2023, is already attracting ire from fans. According to the game's official Japanese website, which features a list of technical specifications, the title will be capped at 30 frames-per-second on all platforms, with its resolution set at 1080p.
It's an especially disappointing realisation because 2013's Tales of Symphonia Chronicles on the PS3 was stuck at 30fps as well. Ten years later, and nothing's has changed.
Its more or less just a port of the ps3 version. calling it remastered is a bad joke.
I honestly don't care as long as I am having fun with the game its a Tales franchise so its a win for me. I just hope they leave out that mess called Tales of Symphonia 2 Dawn of the new World.
Here's hoping enough people voice their opinion about this and they can somehow change it.
At this point, running ToS through Dolphin is the best way to play it. Easily can get 4K out of it and there's HD texture packs.
Lazy remastered launch by every factor. Namco Bandai pisses me off with their greediness here and they might scrap future remasters since nobody wants to buy this.
This is just as bad as the Tales of Vesperia Definite Edition which had two voice actors for the main character because they didn't even try to get the original voice actor back for the new dialogue.
The original Gamecube Tales of Symphonia ran at 60fps so this is pretty lazy on all accounts.
I hope they release a 4K 60fps Tales of Xillia collection at some point.
