Modern Warfare 2’s Outrageous Pay to Win Features - Weapon Vaults and Blueprints

ESTNN Writes - "Call of Duty is getting close to its next big release, Modern Warfare II. The early access kicks off soon. As a follow-up to 2019’s Modern Warfare, this is the most anticipated Call of Duty in years.

However, it’s not all positive. An absurdly pay-to-win feature has been unveiled for the game in the form of Weapon Vaults. Alongside that, dataminers have to work in Warzone. They’ve found blueprints that offer significant changes to how guns work."

I still don't understand how or why people buy call of duty after all this time. It's the same game, updated graphics. It's Fifa but FPS version.

Because even though they rehash it....what it does do...it does very well. Call of Duty has some of the most satisfying gunplay out there. I don't buy it every year, but it's like smartphones. Upgrade every 2-3 years and you'll get a refreshed experience. They just happen to come out with a really good COD every 2-3 years too. Excited for MW2.

They haven't made a good CoD in years. SBMM, focusing on making guns more realistic instead of fun, rotating playlists instead of making everything available like the old games, and shitty micro transactions. It's only good if you never experienced CoD at it's peak.

I know my large gaming group is excited for this game because we will all have a game to come back to and play. So many disappointing fps titles lately and lots of them have fractured into playing other games which is fine, but we miss the camaraderie and single game we could all go to

IW made Infinite Warfare and Ghosts (one of the worst COD games ever) as well, and MW3 was way less fun than MW2. Modern Warfare 2019 was a comeback for them (it still had big issues like barely any maps, camping, etc), and they really struggled for a decade after Vince Zampella left.

Treyarch carried the franchise for most of the 2010s, even though their games also dipped in quality. And they were forced to release their last game a year early with not much dev time because Sledgehammer messed up. They didn't benefit from the 3 year dev cycle

I’m not taking about IW as the company, I’m talking about their OG leaders. Those leaders didn’t work on either of those games. They were long gone until they were convinced to make MW for 2019.

It’s become more of a yearly gaming staple. Kinda like sports games. Always built on the same framework. There’s a die hard fanbase that plays em religiously. It’s just a giant cash cow whose teets are still producing warm milk.

Because call of duty is better than their competition in a lot of areas. Some say they don't innovate, and then some get upset when they change anything, they can't win.

This year i see a new Tarkov inspired mode, a new take on Warzone with Warzone2, a prisoner rescue mode, tweaked Gunfight mode, and a new set of maps. That's quite a bit.

I don't see Fifa coming out with 10 brand new soccer fields and new rules to their game so not sure that's a great comparison.

Have you seen the current fps gaming community? Tons of early access titles with little to new innovation. At least call of duty provides a polished content filled experience. However I really do hope these blueprints aren’t pay to win. That will absolutely ruin any decent experience the game could provide

I hope IW is smart enough to not ruin their game the same way Battlefront 2 ruined their own game years ago.

This. I would put it past Activision, but I see like auto unlock attachments fine, as that is in the game and can get all of them easily without paying. If this is true though, that the guns have a faster TTK, then that is horse shit.

Giving paid weapons (that you can't unlock with regular playing) a faster TTK, I can't see that happening there would be an uproar

It's in the article - FJX Cinder Weapon Vault edition - this edition skips all the grind in unlocking attachments for a weapon. Could it be just a pre-order thing and that's it? Maybe. It could, however, be the first in a string of these.

“Realism” setting is hard :-)

how are people surprised by this? and why are people looking forward to it so much? lol i remember mw2's mp being an absolute, unbalanced mess. there were matches where you literally couldn't leave a building because there was so much shit flying around and warnings of even more incoming, just one after the other with zero down time for the entire match lol it's basically whoever gets the first killstreak wins the game. the snowball effect in this game was ridiculously out of hand lol
