Let's take it back to the old school.
They would never do that because they are known for a certain quality to their games which requires a lot of work. Sony would have to charge full price for the game and a lot of poor people will cry about the price.
I've played jak and Daxter recently and I can tell the games were amazing in there time. Sony would want a high quality release to attract old fans and new fans but I don't see that happening at all.
Sony likes to rely on remakes now. So it's possible
Wait, all they make now are remakes?
You need to understand that a lot of people crying about playstation pledged allegiance to some other gaming company. Most of them only own a gaming system or two and it's quite evident which gaming console has been steadily releasing high quality games regularly for a while which has been the case for a few generations
It’s my favorite franchise, and the reason I moved from Nintendo to PlayStation 20yrs ago. I would love to see a successor with the same crude humor, alcohol drinking, tobacco smoking, and sexual humor.
To replicate that atmosphere could upset a crowd today since platformers largely target children now.
Is there another platformer today that’s dark, gritty, and characters committing suicide (Krew)?
For platformers now it’s SpongeBob, Astrobot, and Ratchet…
ND won't remake it but some other studio could do it. Especially with remakes now getting quality content/resources they maybe able to do jak and Dexter trilogy into one giant game with improvements
I doubt ND'll handle Jak & Daxter any time soon.
Instead Sony'll assign the Remake to some other studio(smaller), like team asobi or bluepoint (I know these studios are doing some other stuffs but I am just using them as examples) or even contact Sumo or Lucid.
Naughty dog should focus on new and Interesting ideas. Like they always do
They've been stuck doing nothing but Uncharted and TLOU for 3 generations now.
Lol at your disagrees, I love Uncharted and LoU, but its not even a subjective thing. They have quite literally only done Uncharted and LoU games for 3 generations (so far). In terms of new ideas, I wouldn’t necessarily make them to be some kind of example. There are plenty of other things in which they are industry leaders and thats perfectly fine
well when you make masterpiece after masterpiece with those 2 with those ips, peope are going to want more of each. u might get your wish if the rumors of their next space themed ip strays crossong are true.
If I'm right...
Crash bandicoot ps1
Jack & daxter ps2
The last of us ps3
Uncharted ps3 & ps4 & Psp
Now it's time for something new for ps5
I’d personally love to see Bluepoint Remake Jak and Daxter, knowing their pedigree and respect to handling past remakes.
I want Naughty Dog to finish up Factions (knowing that according to Neil it’ll have a story for it’s MP, but also in some ways be it’s biggest game and most ambitious, if I’m not mistaken, someone correct me if I’m wrong! Haha.) Also, along with just gearing the team (s) I’m not sure if they’re doing 2 teams at the studio again or just one big team (minus a smaller group that worked on Part 1 for PS5) but would like to see them more focused on their next NEW iP exclusively for PS5, be it savage Starlight or something else entirely.
Either way, I’m looking forward to have my mind 🤯 lol
Same I'm so tired of hearing it's coming but never seeing it.
Me too. I hope if and when they show it, we’ll get a release date and or a beta maybe? I mean, we’ve waited so long for it.
I could totally see that.
Yeah, I’d be great to see them do it. I believe they’d do a really great job!
We'll get another Last of Us remake before they give Jak any thought.
The PS4 edition wasn't a remake, it was a simple remaster to give PS4 owners something to play. TLOU PS5 is the first remake they've ever done. Can't pretend that's all they do now. TLOU2 was an excellent sequel and that's rare after striking gold with the first game.
You say that like it isn't common knowledge. Yeah, it's a remaster that's still playable on PS5, therefore it isn't as necessary as something like Demon's Souls or Shadow of the Colossus. A Jak remake would have been just as welcome as those, but they instead chose to remake the one we're already able to play.
"Excellent sequel" I disagree, the story was a mess and the game was a chore to play due to the poor pacing.
I'm most likely in the minority but that concept art for Jak 4 that eventually turned to something else, I'd love to see that be turned into an actual game.
We've been asking for years. They just aren't interested.
ND should do what ND does. I fully true these guys to deliver the goods. So I want them to do what they love to.
Naughty Dog doesn't want to work on Jak anymore. It wouldn't even fit in with the style of game they make these days anyway.
I think ND has moved on from that. They're all about dark and gritty games about the human nature now.
We got a pretty lousy remaster of it already on ps3/ psv. So much so that it ended up being a better experience playing on ps4 with the ps2 backwards compatibility initiative for the ps2 version.
Not saying they shouldn't remake them but they should take caution with the remake as I'm sure they wouldn't get naughty dog to do it as they should now be working on a next project that isn't a port or remake
I don't mind remakes but at the same time I don't think it should be overly encouraged.
I wasn't a fan of the sequels, but I'd definitely be interested in a remake of the first one.
No they shouldn't...
Naughty dog will never release anything other than last of us and uncharted ever again because those have to be milked to death.
Naughty Dogs next game is reportedly a new IP then most likely TLOU Part 3. So it will be years off if it ever happens. Which I doubt.
Next game is a last of us multiplayer game.
No they won't because some people will get their panties in a twist and only want to pay 1,99 for a remake
Or pay $40, like people did for the legitimately "built from the ground up" remakes of games like Mafia and the entire trilogies of Spyro and Crash. Games like the remakes of Tony Hawk 1 and 2 combo.
You know, devs/publishers that knew that a lot of time and money have been saved because a lot of the leg work had already been done so they priced it according to that fact.
Not release something that's literally running on the same engine as the original release, remove content because there's a separate multiplayer game that needs to be sold down the road, and then price it higher than most games on store shelves right now, despite the game already making the original's budget back ten-fold as is.
Oh, and it's also the second time they're doing this in less than a decade.
It's because everybody who doesn't lap that up is just cheap.
Just don't buy it mate...simples you owe nothing to them , they owe nothing to you. Of im not mistaken it's running on a modified TLOU2 engine.
It's a proprietary engine, and the same exact one that the original was released on.
The only difference is they tinker with it over time and improve it.
The improvements made were already made for Last of Us 2.
They simply made a few more adjustments for the "remake".
Ultimately it is Sony's call if they want a new Jak and Daxter game or a remake. Just like it's Sony's call if they want a new Killzone, Resistance, Wild Arms games.
They don't really need to do a remake but a new game in the series would be nice! The originals hold up very well and are readily available. I'm just ready for them to go back to something a little less serious in tone. They went from Crash to Jak to Uncharted and then Last of Us. They've proven themselves at every step and made the best of the best in each style of game they've made. But each successive game has gotten more gritty and violent.
Id really love to see them go create a new open world adventure game with the whimsy and wit they've been known for in the past. Something along the lines of Jak/crash with the world building of uncharted/LoU but totally new characters and world. A colorful, fun, open world game that isn't so dark and gritty from them would be incredible. I feel like PlayStation is lacking those kind of games lately. Naughty Dog would be the ones to create something totally new and memorable.
