Sony Confirmed For CES 2023

While they tend to have a range of products on display, Sony did have their colored PS5 systems on display at the 2022 show so it will be interesting to see what they shown with the PSVR 2 coming in early 2023, this may be an ideal opportunity to show it.

The story is too old to be commented.

This is definitely a PSVR2 showcase

Garethvk89d ago

Hopefully. They do have a great opportunity to really show it off. One has to wonder if they will ever bring their live events back or have some kind of alternative promotion coming up.

SullysCigar89d ago

I think you're right. Momentum is definitely starting to build for PSVR2, with more devs confirming projects all the time.

The makers of Firewall Zero Hour are teasing exciting news I'm hoping is linked to PSVR2...

Lightning7789d ago

The question is how much will it cost? Sony has been raising prices lately so this thing has a chance of having a heavy price tag.

RioKing88d ago (Edited 88d ago )

@Lightning

If it's not between $400-$500, I'll be shocked. Meta raised the price of the Oculus Quest 2 by $100 just this past week to (starting at) $399. 🤷🏻

=============

I think with the tech involved they could get away with $449.99 MAX. PSVR on PS4 was $399.99.

PSVR2 info extravaganza... can't wait.

moriarty188989d ago

Very nice. Excited to see what they show.

brewin89d ago

Hope they announce a way for players with eye issues/concussions to be able to enjoy. It feels like wasted resources to focus so much on VR when half the fanbase cant or wont use it. Plus, how many PS5 owners really going to put up another 500 for a few experiences?

Smitty202089d ago

Vr will be a lot better this time round :) I really enjoyed vr on my ps4

brewin89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

But will they make it more accessible to user with issues? That's what im hoping for because I personally can't use it due to concussion history. It made me feel super sick. Id love to experience it but just physically cant.

garryxcs89d ago

Cause half the fanbase has eye issues/concussions? You can't possibly be serious with these comments. ffs

As many PS5 owners that feel like it, there's your answer and there hasn't been a price release yet so saying "500" is just trolling.

brewin89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

It's not unreasonable to suggest that this will cost $500 so you telling me that that's trolling is actually trolling. You factor in the cost of VR plus a game or two and there's your $500 so it's not out of the realm.

And yeah there are lots of people who couldn't play psvr because it gave them headaches or made them sick. I never said half the users had eye issues. BUT That's fact look it up. I know this from personal experience because it made me feel sick when I tried it and that's why I couldn't play it. So yeah it is kind of a waste of resources when they're not giving us the new Big exclusive games they're known for and yet they're dumping money into psvr. The PS4 version proved that it was very niche so you can stop trolling me by claiming that I'm trolling regarding this issue.

4 percent of the user base owning PSVR is very niche. Thats not even worth the resources. I said half the users cant or wont use it. Psvr was more like 95% cant or wont for whatever reason.

@brewin a smart person wouldn’t be playing video games with a concussion let alone a VR accessory 🤦🏿
What kind of eye issues are you talking about because a blind person can see you’re just grasping at straws inside a butter tub 🤷🏿 How do you know it’s going to cost $500🤦🏿
Can I borrow your crystal balls to get the wining numbers for next lottery billion jackpot.

I can’t wait to see what’s in store for PSVR2 and how the new games will look like 🤩

Edit: hopefully Sony will have the psvr2 playable at some local retailers I really enjoyed the shark demo the last time they did for the original release window

brewin89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

A concussion history not a current concussion. I can play games all day no issues. As soon as I tried psvr I immediately got sick. Its a known issue with all VR not just PSVR.

Some people just can't help but put down literally everything Sony does.

gobluesamg89d ago

Seems like VR is not for you then, sorry. Some things aren't meant for everyone

brewin89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

Thats my whole point. Couldnt those resources be better used on more games that dont require VR? Fact is, vr is a very niche segment of the Playstation base.

gobluesamg89d ago

Niche for now.... Sony has got to be the most dedicated gaming company in terms of creating experiences for everyone. The accessibility features in many of their games are second to none. First party studio games also run the gambit in terms of different experiences.

garryxcs89d ago

"when they're not giving us the new Big exclusive games they're known for and yet they're dumping money into psvr."

So God of War:Ragnarok doesn't exist, Spider-Man 2 doesn't exist, Insomniac working on Wolverine doesn't exist, games they have put out like Horizon: Forbidden West while they worked on PSVR doesn't exist? You're right you do indeed have eye problems. You can think it's "niche" all day long Sony clearly doesn't seem to think so. I get it though if it made you personally feel sick Sony should just drop it all together. Don't worry just like TLOU remake you're not obligated to buy it.

brewin89d ago

I said none of that. All I said was that I hope they figure out away for more of the population to be able to partake. But yea, 4% of the player base is very niche and a waste of resources.

garryxcs89d ago

"I said none of that."

You said and I quote,

"feels like wasted resources to focus so much on VR".

"when they're not giving us the new Big exclusive games they're known for and yet they're dumping money into psvr."

I showed you it's not their focus and that they have and are continuing to give us big exclusive games, don't back pedal now.

brewin89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

I was referring to them doing it because it's niche. I didn't say that. And where are the big games after God of War and the 2 announced but not shown Marvel games? I'm sure that those will be great, but what else is there? They haven't shown us squat and that's what I'm talking about. So they're ready to show off a bunch of niche PSVR Games but not the big exclusive games that people buy PlayStation for, cuz they certainly aren't buying it for psvr. Yeah there's a handful of nice exclusives out anyway but I'm taking about the future and you keep trying to live in the past. What's next? They're doesn't seem to be much on the horizon cuz they're not showing it. That's what I'm talking about. I want to be able to see the games already. There's no word on anything really beyond the 3 you keep talking about.

==========

Why are you worried about future games when you haven't even played the current PS5 library? It's all new for you. You shouldn't have made this comment on the eve of their next big PlayStation show.

garryxcs89d ago

What is there from anyone else? Why are you holding Sony to a different standard as if they have to give you a laid out list two years in advance of what AAA exclusives are coming but no one else has to? I keep talking about those games because you keep acting like they don't exist. FYI it's far better they wait to announce things closer to launch then announce games that are years away and have people complain about that too.

1Victor89d ago

People will complain no matter what “too many games I can’t keep up “
“Not enough games/ we don’t know everything they have for the next ( ) years”
For sure the psvr2 won’t be the only thing announced at that time so I can’t wait for Sony to “SHOW US WHAT YOU GOT”

brewin89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

Xbox gave us a full roadmap of the next several years. PlayStation told us about 2 marvel games, Psvr, and and showed some God of war. Then they announced they were working on a bunch of GaaS games, announced a new PlayStation Movie studio, a remake of a remastered game, and now a new PlayStation mobile division. If this were any other company doing that, trolls and playstation only owning fans would be laughing and saying how Sony is the only ones that care about games. I'm just holding sony to their own standards and yall are just blindly defending like you are on the sony board of directors.

@ brewing
A little history for you young wiper snapper 3D games ( what it is now regular games) was a niche segment of consoles gaming till Sony PlayStation came out and all of the sudden it took off like a UFO and now 8/16 pixel games are the rare minority.
Portable gaming was a niche till cellphones became more advanced and the Nintendo switch 🤷🏿 Oh I forgot first person shooting games was a niche on consoles till your beloved halo made it popular but hey NICHE IS BAD right just imagine all the good platforms game that we would had by now if that first person shooter niche didn’t take off or all the 64 bits games we would had if 3D games didn’t took off🤷🏿

brewin89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

Totally clueless obviously. FPS were popular back on n64, ever heard of a game called Goldeneye? Yeah, my friends and i used to play that for days in end during our drinking binges in the 90s. What about Doom and Wolfenstein, which where the Only reasons anyone cared about pc gaming. Ive been gaming faithfully since 1985 there chumplestiltskin, so GTFO with that BS. You don't know me and you damn sure don't know gaming history with those ignorant remarks!

Portable gaming niche til cellphones 🤣I guess your form of revisionist history doesn't account for Gameboy and DS?

darthv7289d ago

My only real complain with the existing PSVR was it made my eyes sweat and fog up the inside of the headset. so i can only really play it for like 20-30 min tops and then i got to take it off and cool down. The new headset looks promising as my issue seems to be addressed in the new design.

As for price, i watched the DF guys do their weekly video and even they said it would be $500 but if that happens or not is up to Sony. I wouldnt be bothered if it was $500... it is a premium product, but obviously would love to see it cheaper.

CosmicTurtle89d ago

I will start off by saying I think wanting accessibility for something is a fair cause, I am sympathetic to your frustration. It seems that dealing with discomfort in VR is obviously something developers are working on all the time and higher frame rates apparently mitigate some discomfort so already it will be improve.

But you seem actually to be talking down the VR because it’s not broad enough or that you want them to invest in other games (that you like). This does not sound like someone who is interested in the product regardless. You don’t want anyone to have it. That’s also an opinion you are entitled to. But it makes your initial statement about wanting to make it accessible for more people seem disingenuous. I have really enjoyed VR it helped me a lot with my disability, let other people have nice things. The more broad the uptake the more likely they are to address the underlying issues. Like all hardware it will become more affordable with patience.

1Victor89d ago

@ brewing
time to get new glasses I clearly said A NICHE ON CONSOLES in no way shape or form I did mention PC 🤦🏿.
You know what I had enough of your nick picking and dodging don’t bother to write back I’m not going to answer another obvious biased ignorant off topic comment from you.
Oh and the halo community wants a talk with you they want your club card back for saying HALO DIDN’T MAKE FPS ON CONSOLES 🤣

Uh no they didn't and you just proved who it is you're really a fan of which explains your hate comments for Sony, the truth always comes to light.

But no actual video game events for a video game focused company lol.
